A creative session unfolded within the calm grounds of Vishva Niketan International Peace & Meditation Centre. The work was guided by an exploration of emotional expression as a pathway toward engaging the “soft inner animal” — an instinctive, sensing core that often remains beneath language. Through a restrained, material-led process of colour, gesture, and form, participants moved between internal sensation and external articulation. The atmosphere settled into a steady continuity, where ease held and a forward momentum emerged through the act of making.

This practice continues to evolve through collaborative workshops, art therapy informed processes, creative facilitation, emotional expression work, and interdisciplinary spaces that explore the relationship between inner experience and artistic form.

There is a moment in childhood where belief is not yet broken, only softened—where something small, imperfect, and deeply personal is placed beneath a pillow and left for care to arrive.

Tooth Under the Pillow emerges from this suspended space between loss and reward, tenderness and quiet absurdity.

The works hold gestures of hope that persist even when their logic dissolves—where ritual continues after belief has thinned.

This body of work explores hope not as certainty, but as habit.

Drawing from childhood mythologies of exchange—loss, offering, reward—the “tooth” becomes both absence and gift.

The pillow becomes a threshold: between the body and imagined care.

This series was recently exhibited as part of a group exhibition at the Nepal–Sri Lanka International Wellness Day celebration, where these ideas were held in a shared space of reflection and exchange.

In essence, this work returns to a simple belief: that even in incompleteness, there is a kind of wholeness in continuing to make, to feel, and to remain open to care.
