Decentralization of Functions
Related to Capital Gain Tax

A decision has been taken to decentralize functions of the Capital Gain Tax (CGT) with
effect from August 15, 2024; therefore, persons who are liable to pay CGT from the said date may obtain a TIN by registering themselves for the relevant tax type and collect their CT Return by visiting the Consultation and Promotion Unit located on the 2nd Floor of the Inland Revenue Head Office, Inland Revenue Metro Offices, the nearest Regional Office or the official web portal through the e-Services.

Persons who fail to file tax returns and pay tax on or before the due date shall be liable
to pay a penalty in terms of section 178 or a fine or imprisonment or both such fine and imprisonment on conviction in terms of section 190 of the Inland Revenue Act, No. 24 of
2017.
