TechCERT was honoured to be part of the seminar on “Strengthening Integrity of Sri Lanka’s Banking Sector” held on 21st May at Cinnamon Lakeside.

The event brought together leading professionals from the banking, governance, compliance, and cybersecurity sectors to discuss emerging fraud risks, governance challenges, operational resilience, and global best practices for strengthening Sri Lanka’s financial sector.

We are proud that our CEO, Kushan Sharma, joined a distinguished panel alongside Justice A.H.M.D. Nawaz, Faizal Salih, Trinesh Fernando, and Malik Cader to share valuable insights on fraud prevention, governance, ethical leadership, and institutional resilience.

The discussions highlighted the importance of collaboration, strong governance frameworks, and technological innovation in building trust and resilience within the banking industry.

A big thank you to Corporate Management Consultants (CMC) for organising this insightful and impactful forum, and to everyone who participated and contributed to the discussions.

🚀TechCERT Annual Training 2023🚀

TechCERT hosted its Annual Training exclusively for its clients at Sapphire, Mario Beach, Colombo on 23rd November 2023. The event was a showcase of practical and actionable cybersecurity insights, delivered by a team of well experienced engineers. This exclusive session was tailored to empower TechCERT's clients with strategies and knowledge that directly address both global and local cybersecurity challenges and compliance requirements.

Session 1 - Pen Testing Sieges in Cyber Battle Grounds: Offering strategies and insights particularly valuable for the Sri Lankan landscape.

Session 2 - Securing Payment Mobile Apps: Guiding through compliance in the ever-evolving world of mobile payments.

Session 3 -Windows Artifact Analysis in Incident Response (Hands-on Session): Enhancing practical skills for effective incident response.

TechCERT's focus on delivering relevant and practical cybersecurity knowledge to its clients was a key aspect of the event, highlighting commitment to top-notch, client-centered cybersecurity services.

TechCERT has successfully concluded its 13th annual cybersecurity drill, continuing a tradition of evaluating the response capabilities of cybersecurity and IT teams within Sri Lankan organizations. This year's event was themed "The Curious Click: Unleashing the Unseen Threat."

TechCERT was the pioneering organization to introduce cybersecurity drills to Sri Lanka's cyber community in 2011. The tradition persists, with TechCERT conducting this exercise each year, targeting three key sectors: Banking and Finance, Telecommunication, and various other organizations at different intervals throughout the year. This year's event had the active participation of 46 leading organizations, including several from overseas. Operating from the TechCERT office, the exercise control center meticulously coordinated the annual cybersecurity drill, ensuring seamless participation and engagement of all the involved organizations from their respective office locations.

The TechCERT Cybersecurity Drill is designed to validate the technical skills and incident response capabilities of Sri Lankan organizations, focusing on their capacity to safeguard critical information infrastructure. It also serves as a training platform to enhance their cybersecurity skills.

During this drill, teams were immersed in a challenging environment, necessitating extensive interactions within their organizations, as well as coordination with Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) and various other entities. The scenario was intensified with the introduction of Artificial Intelligence-based malware, a sophisticated and adaptive threat that required the participants to elevate their analysis of logs, systems, and malicious code to new levels. In addition to identifying and mitigating the attack, teams were also responsible for promptly notifying and assisting affected entities, and collaboratively working towards the coordinated suspension of the malicious AI-driven attack.

Over the years this has become one of the most anticipated events on the TechCERT calendar for our customers. This enthusiasm and engagement have driven us to take it to new heights each year.

TechCERT commemorated its 17-year cybersecurity journey with an exclusive cocktail event for its valued customers at the Grand Ballroom, Galle Face Hotel, Colombo. The evening's main attraction was a live demonstration showcasing a Polymorphic Ransomware variant developed by the TechCERT team using Generative AI platforms such as OpenAI Playground. This demonstrated the potential to evade detection by common anti-malware solutions, reflecting TechCERT's dedication to exploring advanced technologies and helping customers improve their security posture.

Defending Against Ransomware and Strengthening Security Posture - TechCERT presented an exclusive CISO meetup in collaboration with SISA Information Security. The workshop consisted of topics that would assist firms in defending against ransomware and strengthening their security posture.
