In England, Saint Lucian writer and spoken word artist and Co-founder of ThouArt Kishma Serieux delivered a moving performance at Saint Lucia’s 47th Independence Outreach, hosted by the Saint Lucia High Commission.

Sharing poetry with members of the diaspora, Serieux brought a piece of home into the room; a reminder of the power of culture, memory, and voice.

For Serieux, the moment was both personal and purposeful. As a writer, opportunities like this affirm why the work continues: our stories matter, our voices travel, and Saint Lucian culture lives wherever its people stand.
The evening featured a rich programme of music and cultural expression, including steelpan musician Kavel Kirk Alexander and an energetic performance from four-time Calypso Monarch Menell Delices, whose presence brought the unmistakable spirit of Saint Lucia to the celebration.

Serieux expressed gratitude to the Saint Lucia High Commission for the invitation and to the audience who received her words with warmth and pride.

Carrying Saint Lucia wherever she goes, the journey continues. 🇱🇨✨

Thank you for this honorable award (Outstanding Youth Organization) from the Micoud North Youth and Sports Awards, this means so much and we are beyond grateful for this recognition. We continue to pride ourselves in developing the Arts and young talent in our constituency and Saint Lucia. Your support and recognition makes what we do even more valuable.
