What do you do when someone tells you to praise God—but you honestly do not feel like praising?
There was a difficult season in my life when I did not enjoy praise and worship at all.
When people told me I should praise the Lord, my response was almost:
Why? What exactly am I celebrating?
But I eventually began to understand an important truth:
Praise is not pretending that everything is fine. Praise is acknowledging that God is still God even when everything is not fine.
The Bible repeatedly shows people praising God not only after victory—but sometimes before the answer came.
When Jehoshaphat faced an overwhelming enemy, singers went before the army:
“And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments…”
— 2 Chronicles 20:22 (KJV)

When we think about love, we often think about feelings, affection, friendship, or romance.
But the Bible gives us a much deeper picture.
God's love is patient.
God's love is kind.
God's love gives.
God's love forgives.
God's love serves.
And God's love moves from the heart into action.
Even more wonderfully, Scripture tells believers:
“...the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” — Romans 5:5 (KJV)
That means Christian love isn't simply about trying harder to become a nicer person. As we surrender to the Holy Spirit, God can increasingly express His character through us.
