When I first woke up this morning, things weren't as they used to be in previous years.

I thought about the daughters of Joe Andoun and his wife. I recalled the voice of his sister Michele who was hopeful till the last minute. I thought about Joe Akiki and Joe Noun's mums who waited for their return. I thought about Sahar's fiancé and her family... I thought about them all, those who left and left grief and tears...

I thought about Lebanon and I wondered, "why? Why is this small country doomed to despair?" Yes, Lebanon is strong despite all the weaknesses and the pain, cheerful despite all the tears, full of life despite all the death... But till when?
