I am a figurative artist, based in London. I explore subjects from my Bulgarian culture, using tradi I am a contemporary figurative artist, based in London, UK.
Being an immigrant has a huge influence on my work, as my way of staying connected to my culture is directly through my works. In my works I explore various subjects from Bulgarian folklore and heritage, using very traditional elements and objects, such as embroidery and pottery designs, with mythological themes and universal symbols. I implement and transform ideas from different rituals and fables to create a contemporary interpretation of my culture, emphasising on the mystical and esoteric aspect of it. With my works I want to strengthen and expand people`s awareness of the still existing cultural diversity in a current world setting, where globalisation is the new trend. With ethnicity being melted down, I consider it really important to acknowledge and preserve our own heritage.

Growing and descending down below,
Reaching tips, the fingers and all corners,
Leafless roots with green pockets,
Holding firmly in the soil.
Ascending and extending upward,
Curling buds and spirals twirl,
Twist and braid the spinal cord
All the way up to the stars and moon.
Interwoven, merging in pulsating core,
Black as oil and light as gold,
Roots and cords collide and then unite,
A fleeting moment of eternal dance.

Painting has always been a part of me since I was a child. The realisation of wanting to make it my livelihood, became later. And not until recently came the understanding why, striking as a thunder.

Work from my recent solo show SEEDLINGS at
The show was small works only and I wanted to capture the inception and seed of ideas. All of the works served as a bridge between my works before and my works to come. They are the inception and the transformation of the next stage for myself personally and professionally. And I believe that we all, just as seeds, hold unlimited potential that only we can unfold and flourish.
