There is something increasingly rare about having to make a small journey to reach somewhere.
Musafir sits across the waters of Mida Creek, reached by boat through a landscape of mangroves, birdlife and fishing grounds that have sustained communities for generations.
It takes a little longer.
And therein lies its charm.
Because anticipation, too, is part of an evening.
Your evening on the creek awaits. Reserve via the link in bio.

We’d like you to stay a while.
Not because your table is booked for a certain number of hours or because there is something else you need to see afterwards.
Quite the opposite.
Order another plate. Let the bartender make you something. Watch the tide change. Stay for sunset. Stay after sunset.
Nothing on the creek is rushing you.
Neither are we.
Come aboard. Reservations via the link in bio.

Maybe that is the thing about Musafir. What stays with you isn’t necessarily what you saw, but how being here made you feel.

Musafir means traveller. A name that belongs as much to the dhow as it does to those who step aboard.
Perhaps that is the beauty of this place. We come to share a meal, watch the sun go down and spend an evening together, all the while becoming a small part of a much longer story.

Some cocktails are made to behave. El Bandito was never going to be one of them.
Tequila infused with pili pili and lemongrass, citrus, red peppers, Zanzibar vanilla and sage.

The sounds of the Musafir.
If you stop and listen long enough, you will notice the sounds around you. The creek against the dhow, the wind catching the sails, glasses meeting the table, conversations drifting in and out.
Musafir means traveller. And perhaps part of travelling is learning to notice again. To listen to a place, rather than simply pass through it.
Turn the sound on. Stay for a moment.

Dinner on Musafir has a habit of arriving a little differently.
Plates made for sharing begin to fill the table, something cold is poured alongside them, and somewhere between passing one dish and reaching for another, dinner becomes the kind of evening that goes on long after the plates are cleared.
The food brings you to the table. Everything around it gives you a reason to stay. Reservations via link in bio.

Dusk has fallen over these waters for centuries.
Dhows once crossed the Swahili coast carrying people, goods and stories between distant shores. Today, Musafir holds a different kind of gathering.
Lanterns are lit. Dinner reaches the table. Glasses are poured as the last light disappears over Mida Creek.
The setting has changed. The instinct to gather on the water hasn’t.

There’s a particular kind of peace that arrives on Mida Creek around 5pm.
Maybe it’s the changing light. Maybe it’s the first drink. Or maybe it’s simply the feeling that, for the next few hours, there’s nowhere else you need to be.

Some evenings don’t need much of a plan. Just someone you want to spend them with, a table slowly filling with good food, and a few hours ahead with nothing asking for your attention but each other.
Mida Creek can take care of the rest.
