: There is relief after preliminary tests conducted on a suspected Ebola case at Habaswein in Wajir County returned negative.

Wajir Governor H.E Ahmed Abdullahi EGH confirmed that preliminary laboratory results for the patient suspected of having Ebola indicate that he has not tested positive for the disease.

The patient is a 20-year-old man who travelled to Kenya from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through Uganda.

He remains under medical care at Habaswein Sub-County Hospital, as health officials continue to closely monitor his condition.

Governor Ahmed Abdullahi has urged residents to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information, assuring the public that health authorities are following established public health protocols for such cases.

Ethiopia Accuses Hassan Sheikh of Turning Away from Previous Relations

/ : The Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) has accused Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of aligning himself with countries that Ethiopia considers opposed to its regional interests.

ENA said Somalia has overlooked Ethiopia’s role in peacebuilding and reconstruction efforts in Somalia, citing reconciliation conferences that were previously hosted in Ethiopia.

The accusations come at a time of heightened tensions between Somalia and Ethiopia, as Mogadishu strengthens its relations with Egypt and Eritrea.

The two sides view the situation differently, with Somalia maintaining that it is committed to protecting its sovereignty and strengthening relations with countries across the region.

Kenya Confirms First Case of Ebola

has confirmed its first case of Ebola, according to Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale .

The patient was a Kenyan national who had been living in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and arrived in Kenya on Saturday.

The Ministry of Health said the patient was taken to a health facility upon arrival, where medical tests were conducted. The test results confirmed that the patient had Ebola.

However, the patient died last night, with the Ministry of Health saying measures have been put in place to contain the risk of further spread of the disease.

The Kenyan government is now conducting contact tracing and health monitoring of people who may have been in close contact with the patient.

The Ministry of Health has also urged the public to maintain good hygiene, wash their hands regularly, and seek medical attention immediately if they develop suspected symptoms.

The government has urged the public not to panic, as health authorities continue to implement measures aimed at containing the disease.

Senator Ali Roba Questions the Vibrancy of the Mandera County Assembly

Mandera: Mandera Senator and former Governor Senator Capt. Ali Ibrahim Roba EGH, MP has questioned the current level of vibrancy of the Mandera County Assembly, particularly its role in oversight and holding the county executive accountable.

Roba, who served as Mandera Governor for 10 years, said the County Assembly was widely discussed during his tenure because of its active role in oversight.

During the 10 years I was Governor, the Mandera County Assembly was discussed from Nairobi to Mandera because it was extremely vibrant, Roba said.

His remarks come amid growing debate over the visibility and performance of the current Assembly. Guticha Ward MCA Mohamedshukri also acknowledged that the current Assembly is less vibrant than its predecessor in terms of oversight, although he noted that it has made progress in developing and passing legislation.

The debate now centres on whether the Assembly has reduced its role in oversight and accountability, or whether it is simply carrying out its responsibilities in a different way from its predecessor.

Mandera County Ranks Third in Kenya in Development Spending

Mandera County has ranked third nationally in development spending, according to data from the Controller of Budget.

The county spent Sh4.3 billion out of Sh5.4 billion, representing an 80% absorption rate.

Mandera was ranked behind Kilifi at 84.52% and Wajir at 83.03%.
