The Linda Mwananchi team associated with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna and Siaya Governor James Orengo is pursuing a dual-track political strategy – mobilising a grassroots movement under the same banner while deliberately keeping the 2027 succession question open, including the possibility of a presidential bid by the Nairobi senator. STATEMENT OF THE MEETING OF THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE OF THE ODM PARTY

Ladies and Gentlemen of the press,

The Central Committee held its meeting today, the 16th day of April, 2026, to deliberate on a number of issues affecting both our Party and the nation. This was the second meeting of this organ to be held this year; the first one was held on the 12th day of January 2026. As has been the tradition, the meeting was chaired by the Party Leader Sen. (Dr) Oburu Oginga.

We took stock of the developments in the Party, particularly the successful Special Sitting of the National Delegates Convention held on Friday, 27th March 2026 at the ASK Showgrounds in Nairobi. The meeting applauded the National Secretariat and the Organizing Committee for a well-organized event which began and ended without any incidents.

The Central Committee commended the National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) for conducting peaceful, transparent and verifiable grassroots elections across the country. The exercise is 98 percent complete, and we hope to have the few remaining areas complete their elections in the shortest time possible. The current socio-economic and political situation in the country also formed part of our deliberations.

RESOLUTIONS

1. The Party will embark on a vigorous exercise to popularize and strengthen its presence across the country, especially in strongholds. Members in areas where grassroots elections are incomplete are urged to resolve disputes through internal mechanisms.

2. The Party will conduct countrywide youth conventions in 25 counties:
- Monday, 20th April 2026 – Nairobi County
- Sunday, 26th April 2026 – Mombasa
- Friday, 1st May to Sunday, 3rd May 2026 – Break for joint NEC/PG & Governors retreat

3. Members and supporters are urged to remain steadfast. The Party assures free and fair nominations with no preferential treatment. A portal for elective positions will be opened soon.

4. On relations with UDA, the Committee expressed concern

Maximum Miracle Centre Bishop Pius Muiru faces possible auction of properties worth KSh 960M after defaulting on a KSh 216M loan taken in 2010 from Equity Bank.

Muiru, who is a former presidential aspirant, had used the prime properties, namely land and rental properties, as security, including some co-owned with his wife, and also tied to shares in a family company, assets worth around 960million shillings.

Muiru and his wife claim to have repaid over KSh 350 million, disputing the bank's interest and penalties.

The celebrated evangelist argues that overcharges of about KSh 122.8 million leave an actual balance of near KSh 27.9 million.

The High Court has temporarily halted the auction of the Nairobi and Kiambu assets, including land, rental buildings, and family company shares, pending a full hearing.

TRAGIC FALL FROM GRACE: THE HEARTBREAKING STORY OF DOROTHY MOUMA AND SOCIETY'S SILENCE

By Jimmy Odari MNL

February 19, 2026

The poignant story of Dorothy Muoma, a former magistrate at the Kitale Law Courts, underscores a tragic narrative of mental health struggles, societal neglect, and systemic failure. Once a respected figure in the judicial community, Muoma’s life unraveled following her suspension from duty, exposing the vulnerabilities often overlooked within professional and societal spheres.

Dorothy Muoma, an advocate of the High Court with a longstanding career in Kitale, was celebrated for her dedication and success. However, her life took a drastic turn when she was suspended from her judicial role. Believing she would be reinstated, Muoma left the courtroom, only to face an eventual dismissal that shattered her stability. She lost her home, her vehicle, and her financial security, leaving her vulnerable to creditors and societal judgement.

As her circumstances deteriorated, the support system she once relied on evaporated. Friends distanced themselves, colleagues remained silent, and the community she served seemed to forget her. Her family and church, once sources of solace, offered no assistance. Isolated and overwhelmed, Muoma’s mental health declined silently, a tragedy often masked until it was too late.

Her struggles culminated in a heartbreaking scene—homeless and speaking to herself on the streets of Kitale, crying out for help in a language only she understood. Despite her prior success and dedication, she succumbed to her mental health challenges, losing her life in the cold streets of Bungoma County.

Dorothy Muoma was laid to rest on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in Nakalira Village, Kimilili. Her story is a stark reminder of the urgent need for compassion, community support, and mental health awareness. Society, including the legal fraternity, must reflect on its collective responsibility to protect its members in times of crisis. A simple gesture—be it a call, a visit, or a word of encouragement—could have altered her fate.

Let Dorothy’s story serve as a wake-up call: we must be our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers before tragedy strikes again.

*May her soul rest in peace.*
