The Elephant on the Mountain Road

High in the misty mountains, a narrow dirt road curved along a dangerous cliff. Every day buses passed through this road carrying villagers, workers, and students from one town to another.

One morning, a crowded bus struggled to climb the steep path. The road was wet from the night rain, and the ground had become soft and slippery.

Suddenly, the driver felt the bus slide.

The heavy vehicle tilted dangerously toward the edge of the cliff. People inside screamed as the wheels slowly slipped into the loose dirt. Some passengers quickly climbed onto the roof while others rushed outside. Within minutes, a large crowd gathered along the roadside, watching nervously.

Everyone feared the same thing.

If the bus moved just a little more, it would fall down the steep valley.

Among the crowd was a local elephant named Raju, guided by his caretaker who often walked through the mountain villages. Raju was known for his strength and calm nature.

The villagers quickly came up with an idea.

They tied a thick rope to the front of the bus and handed the other end to Raju. The elephant wrapped the rope around his powerful trunk.

For a moment everything became quiet.

“Pull, Raju… pull!” the caretaker called.

The elephant leaned back slowly, digging his massive feet into the muddy ground. The rope tightened.

At first, the bus did not move.

Then the wheels shifted.

The crowd gasped as the bus slowly lifted away from the edge. Dirt fell down the cliff as Raju pulled harder, step by step, using all his strength.

Finally, with one powerful tug, the bus slid back onto the road.

The crowd erupted into cheers.

Passengers climbed down, thanking the elephant and his caretaker. Some even brought bananas and sugarcane as a reward for the gentle giant who had saved them.
