The new Menzies forged hardware series celebrates the chronological transition from the tackhead to the adjustable mechanical tightening system. The hook around the rim hand forged hardware still maintains the organic aesthetics of early banjos, while adding just the right amount of weight on the rim to increase projection and tonal range. This hardware is available to be paired with any neck design. Videos will soon follow!

Can’t begin to thank for their beyond incredible efforts to support Jamaican artists in replacing instruments and tools lost in hurricane Melissa. It’s has been a pleasure to have connected with both and while they travelled the parishes of Kingston, St Andrew and St Catherine to personally gift musicians instruments that were generously donated by various organizations. Restring Appalachia has made a major impact to many lives on the island that will have eternal impact to preserving local music and deep traditions. There is a special kind of gratitude in playing and stretching out the strings of this Jamaican almond gourd banjo. As the first instrument completed in my new Bull Bay workshop it represents a fresh start with further clarity and the setting of deeper roots.

Relocating to Kingston/St. Andrew post-Hurricane Melissa has been a journey of resilience, made possible by the incredible support of my global and local community. Your housing, mentorship, and care have been my foundation that has supported me in spreading my wings even wider.

I’m honoring this new beginning with version of “Liza Jane.” Just as Dom discovered this version while exploring the open strings of his the American Songster model Menzies Tackhead, I’m finding my rhythm again in the present moment. Give thanks!
