It began with a need to create objects with identity, carrying traces of the person who made them.

Archaeology of the Future begins with a reversal of perspective: instead of looking at an object from the past through the eyes of the present, I try to imagine an object from the present being observed from a distant future.

I create works while also considering what they might become centuries from now, when our own time will have become history and much of the memory we now consider permanent may have disappeared, been erased, or become inaccessible.

I imagine a future in which what is known about our civilisation is no longer complete. Documents can disappear, archives can be destroyed, and digital memory, which today seems infinite, actually depends on systems capable of preserving it and keeping it accessible.

Within that void, a surviving physical object could become a form of evidence. A fragment through which someone might try to understand who we were, the stories we told, and the symbols we chose to carry with us.
