Toprak Razgatlıoğlu - P15 💬
BritishGP - RACE 🇬🇧

The fight with Pol was difficult, especially because I finished behind him! I made a couple of mistakes towards the end and lost some time, while his bike was very fast on the straights. I tried to pass him, but it was difficult, so we finished very close. Overall, it was a difficult race with the tyre management, although I felt better than yesterday.

I learned a lot this weekend because this track is very different from my usual riding style. There are many long corners where you need to wait, pick up the bike and manage the acceleration, so I‘m still learning how to adapt my riding to the MotoGP bike and these tyres. I‘m also learning a lot about the engine braking and how to manage the bike.

We finished 15th, so it was not a good result for me, but I‘m focusing on what I learned because it will be important when we come back here next year. I‘m trying to stay positive and now we go to Aragón, where I hope we can improve and get closer to the other Yamaha riders.

My target for the season remains the same: to finish in the top ten. It won‘t be easy, but I‘ll keep giving my best and trying to achieve the best possible results in the remaining races.

Jack Miller - P13 💬
BritishGP - RACE 🇬🇧

I gave everything I had today, and unfortunately everything I had was enough for 13th position. Fabio and I were riding together for most of the race, and I think that shows the level we‘re at right now. We tried to fight with the other guys, but you can only do that for a certain amount of time. At a certain point, the extra risk you have to take, whether it‘s braking harder or pushing more in the corners, starts to have an effect towards the second half of the race. That‘s something we need to work on.

The track was a little bit more slippery today, whether because of the temperature or the Moto2 race, and with everyone running the medium rear tyre, it was a long and difficult race. Even though we were all managing the tyres carefully, the drop was still significant, especially over the final seven laps.

The Aprilias seemed to manage the tyres very well again today. We‘ve seen them do that across different classes and different circuits, and especially this year they seem to have the whole package working very well when it comes to tyre conservation and management.

Now we have another two weeks off, so we‘ll use that time to work on improving a little bit more and come back stronger for the next race.

BritishGP - SPRINT 🇬🇧

It was a very difficult Sprint and I’m quite surprised by how much the rear tyre dropped. At the beginning the feeling wasn’t too bad, although we were still working on the turning of the bike after trying a different set-up for the race. I had already felt some spinning with the soft tyre in the morning, but I didn’t expect the drop to be so significant after only four or five laps.

Once the tyre started to drop, I lost almost all the rear grip and it became very difficult to turn the bike and carry speed through the corners. My lap times dropped dramatically and I was no longer able to ride in the way I wanted. I checked the data with my crew chief afterwards because I wanted to understand why my tyre performance was so different from the others. Everyone had some drop, but mine was much bigger, and that’s something we need to understand.

Without that tyre problem, I think I could have fought with the KTM riders and perhaps stayed closer to Alex, so there was definitely more potential today. Tomorrow everyone will have different tyre options, but we still need to work on the rear grip and the bike set-up. I’m also continuing to adapt my riding style to MotoGP and trying to learn from Jack and Fabio, especially in terms of corner speed. We’re still searching for the right set-up and the right rhythm for my riding style, but we’ll keep working and see what we can improve for the Grand Prix.

BritishGP - SPRINT 🇬🇧

I opted for the medium tyre, and I knew the first few laps would be difficult because most of the others were on the soft. I also didn’t get the best start, despite making a good jump, because we had reduced the power slightly this morning and I struggled a little in first gear on the way to Turn 1. On the medium tyre, that made the opening laps even more difficult, and I lost a few positions.

After that, though, the medium became stronger and I was able to start coming back towards the riders ahead. Towards the end of the Sprint I was one of the fastest riders on track, so there was definitely good potential in the tyre choice. We saw a significant drop from the soft tyre over the race distance, and having tried the soft for long runs during the weekend, I wasn’t confident it would be the right option for me. With my riding style, I rely a lot on the edge of the tyre and need the bike to turn well on corner entry, so the medium gave me a more consistent feeling.

We didn’t score any points today, but I think it was a useful experience and we learned some important things for tomorrow. Silverstone is always demanding on the tyres, so you have to manage them and be as smooth as possible. Hopefully we can use what we learned today to make the right choice for the Grand Prix.
