Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88 and was laid to rest in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore following an unprecedented farewell ceremony for the first Pope from the Americas.

The Jubilee in 2025 officially began on December 24, 2024, and ends on January 6, 2026, with events and celebrations throughout the year. Many visitors follow the traditional pilgrimage routes in Rome, which include the four major basilicas, such as St. Peter's Basilica, St. John Lateran, St. Mary’s Major, and St. Paul’s outside the walls.
