😍 Did you know that this extraordinary sculpture hides some fascinating secrets?

🏛️ This is The R**e of Proserpina, sculpted by Gian Lorenzo Bernini between 1621 and 1622, when the artist was just 23 years old!

🔎 Here are 3 incredible facts you probably didn’t know!

✨ Marble that looks like real skin! Look closely at Pluto’s fingers pressing into Proserpina’s thigh. Bernini made solid marble appear incredibly soft and lifelike!

🐕 See the three-headed dog? That’s Cerberus, the fearsome guardian of the Underworld, ruled by Pluto himself.

❤️ A love story? Not exactly! According to Roman mythology, Pluto abducted Proserpina and took her to the Underworld. Her mother Ceres, goddess of agriculture, was so devastated that her grief became linked to the changing seasons.
