When a standard city tour of Parma turns into a literary adventure! 📚✨

These wonderful guests from Chicago arrived with a very specific dream: they had read John Grisham’s The Broker and wanted to see the locations of Parma mentioned on the book.

The catch? I hadn’t read the book yet! 😅 But as a local guide, challenge accepted. I did a quick deep-dive research session right away, and we completely tailored our historic center walk around the novel’s locations.

Un aspetto di questo lavoro che amo e odio: oggi il mio umore era un po’ come il cielo grigio che si vede nella foto 2.
Quando hai un gruppo di 20 persone in vacanza che ti aspettano per un tour, come si fa? Loro si aspettano una persona felice, sorridente, carica!
Beh non riesco a fingere, ma posso trasformare ciò che provo dentro: ed è lì che la magia succede. Parlo di più, accelero il passo, scherzo, risate e battute iniziano a susseguirsi.
Alla fine, è incredibilmente terapeutico: perché stare con le persone è bello, l’energia degli altri ti contagia, il tempo vola e, piano piano, alla fine della visita il sorriso torna davvero !

One aspect of this job that I both love and hate: today my mood was a bit like the grey sky you see in photo 2.
When you have a group of 20 people on holiday waiting for you for a tour, what do you do? They expect someone happy, smiling, full of energy!
Well, I can’t fake it, but I can transform what I feel inside: and that’s when the magic happens. I talk more, I speed up my pace, I joke, laughter and banter start flowing.
In the end, it’s incredibly therapeutic: because being with people is wonderful, other people’s energy is contagious, time flies, and little by little, by the end of the tour, a smile really does find its way back.”
