انطلقت تقنية تقوية الهياكل الخرسانية باستخدام الالياف المقواة بالبوليمر (FRP) في السنوات الاخيرة الماضية , وذلك لتميزها بقوة شد عالية تستطيع ان تعوض نقص مقاومة الاجهادات التي تتعرض لها العناصر الانشائية او نقص حديد التسليح من خلال تطبيقها على الاسطح الخرسانية بحسب اتجاه الاحمال والعزم في هذه العناصر ، ومن الضروري القيام ببعض الخطوات قبل تنفيذ هذه التقنية مثل معاينة العناصر الانشائية المتضررة وعمل تصميم لطرقة التدعيم بشكل كامل من قبل المتخصصين.حيث تكون بأشكال عديدة وطرق استخدام مختلفة فمنها ما يكون على شكل لفائف يتم تطبيقها على اماكن قوى القص او على شكل صفائح تطبق في اماكن قوى الانثناء , وفي بعض الاحيان يتم تطبيقها داخل الخرسانة بعمل اخاديد تثبت فيها قضبان من الالياف المقواة بالبوليمر وتثبيتها بمواد اسمنتية او ايبوكسية مناسبة..
