Faces attract me a lot. I met this lovely Nepali lady, who runs a small roadside stall during my recent trip to Arunachal. quite loving she was to me, and happy being snapped. As mentioned in previous posts, Arunachal is a home to many communities. Infact, it is true with the entire North east where several communities have lived in harmony maintaining their own traditions for centuries now.

"Two Generations

Most of my travels are about understanding new land, meeting and knowing people and cultures. So this was from my latest travel to the remotes of Arunachal to a place called KIMI, a very sparsely populated village . Arunachal is a home to many communities and sub communities. These communities vary in their lifestyle, their costumes ,their customs. This lady belongs to a community called AKA . Notice her earlobes. As she said it was mandatory to wear heavy silver earrings during her youth. She cannot continue to wear them and most of the older generations have given up on wearing heavy jewellery due to inconvenience except for special occasions. She does not force her new gen to follow these traditions .True it is, sometimes we need to mould ourselves as per the demand of the situation .. Its important to think modern than live modern was what I learnt from her..:)

Enchanting Arunachal

While i was travelling today in the remote hills of Arunachal Pradesh, I came across this man in the hills. He is Tenzin Lama, born in the year 1920. Does he look like a 98 year old man? He said that with much pride narrating stories from the years he remembered. He said till 1928 he didn't remember taking salt, the Britishers came to there land in the year 1942, about Indian independence..he saw it all...The life of these hills are strange, there are still no proper transport, no proper roads.. and perhaps I had not seen such jungles before... I was already tired travelling by car, and he showed no tiredness walking uphills,where i could not locate any human inhabitants nearby, single tea stall was some 8 kms from the place.
