Have you ever met someone who says they lost their weight super quickly because they followed a "Low-carb" dieting strategy? Chances are, they have unknowingly put themselves on a calorie deficit! (Which is the basic principle of energy, i.e. calories in < calories out)
Then, why is Low Carb Diet so hyped up about?
Let's assume the circle in the image is a muscle cell. The outer layer represents the amount of carbs that retains water.
Now, let's assume you've reduced your carbohydrate intake. The same muscle cells with a less thick carb layer will now retain less water, leading to "weight" loss! (Note: Weight loss is not equal to fat loss)
You will likely have the same fat percentage as before if you're not on a deficit, but because you've reduced your carb intake, your body does not retain as much water as it did before.
So, the next time someone tells you that Low Carb Diet is the secret to fat loss, you know what to say to them! ;)
