Nichkhoor Canal Desilting, Restoration Taken Up on Fast-Track Basis in Hajin
Hajin,:The desilting and restoration of the historic Nichkhoor Canal in Hajin has been taken up on a fast-track basis following the directions of MLA Sonawari, Adv. Hilal Akbar Lone, with the aim of restoring the smooth flow of water and addressing the concerns of local residents and farmers.
Official sources said that the canal had witnessed significant accumulation of silt and waste material over the years, hampering the free flow of water and affecting irrigation facilities in several adjoining areas. Locals welcomed the initiative, stating that the cleaning of the canal had been a long-pending demand of the area. They said the restoration of the water channel would benefit a large number of farmers dependent on it for irrigation and help prevent water stagnation in nearby localities.
