Question - Gurudev, there is so much violence in this world and you encourage us to envision a peaceful world. Is it even possible?

When we started The , people said, ‘What can they do?’ Do you know where the Art of Living has reached? To the last city of Argentina, Tierra del Fuego; there is no habitation beyond that. It is only the South Pole. When you go there, you will see thousands of people doing the Sudarshan Kriya there.
When you go to the North Pole, to Tromso, it is the last town of Norway where the Sun does not rise at all for two months. In Tromso also, you will find people who are sitting and meditating, doing pranayama, and whose lives have changed drastically.
So, we should dream of a world free from stress, violence, and inhumanness. What do you think? Shall we all make an effort for that?
Finally, I want all of you to raise your hands, and take an oath, that we will all make an effort towards making a better world, and a better society.

Meditation is pleasure without
excitement. It is thrill without
enxiety. It is love without hatred.
Just like how body requires food,
the food for the soul is meditation.

*PHILOSOPHY ABOUT TOO MUCH*
1. If you speak too much, you will lie.
2. If you think too much,you will be depressed
3. If you cry too much, you will lose your sight
4. If you love too much, you will be lost
5. If you care too much,you will be taken for granted
6.If you play too much, You will not be taken serious often
7.If you trust too much, you will be betrayed
8.If you work too much, You will die of stress
9.If you eat too much, You will be obsessed
10.If you sleep too much, You will be idle
11. If you spend too much, You will have no future
12.If you wear make up too much, You will lose your beauty
13.If you look too much, You will lose your focus
14.If you pursue life too much, you will lose everything.
BUT..........
* When you pray too much, You will have everything
*When you have too much patience, you will have the whole world
*When you invest too much, You will have your future guaranteed
*When you let go too much, you will have peace of mind
*When you are careful too much, you will be saved of many evils.
*When you serve God too much, you will receive unlimited and unspeakable reward and testimony.

My purpose in life is doing service for society. The highest form of service is to uplift the consciousness of one's being. Meditation is the best tool to uplift consciousness. To do that, I have to survive. To survive, I need food, shelter, and social balance because human beings are social animals. For that, I need to make money. If in making money if I forget the real purpose behind it, then what is its use? Life becomes useless.

I have to save myself from forgetting the primary purpose of my life while pursuing the secondary purpose, which is making money.

I believe I have to make a lot of money. In fact, every good person has to make a lot of money because the more good people become rich, the poorer bad people become, as the world has limited resources.

The highest form of seva (service) that I can do is bringing people onto the path of meditation, making them realize that the real source of happiness is within ourselves.

If I am not able to think and act in every possible way to give more happiness to the people then that will be a great embaracement to me. It's impossible for to survive without doing sewa(service) for the society.

Asset vs Liability

Son: Dad, may I speak with you?
Dad: Go ahead.
Son: Among all my classmates, I am the only one without a car. It is embarrassing.
Dad: What do you want me to do?
Son: I need a car. I don't want to feel odd.
Dad: Do you have a particular car in mind?
Son: Yes dad (smiling)
Dad: How much?
Son: 200,000 Rupees
Dad: I will give you the money on one condition.
Son: What is the condition?
Dad: You will not use the money to buy a car but invest it. If you make enough profit from the investment, you can go ahead and buy the car.
Son: Deal.

Then, the father gave him a cheque of 200,000 Rupees. The son cashed the cheque and invested it in obedience to the verbal agreement that he had with his father.

Some months later, the father asked the son how he was faring. The son responded that his business was improving. The father left him.

After some months again, the father asked him about his business
again and the son told him that he is making a lot of profit from the business.

When it was exactly a year after he gave him the money, the father asked him to show him how far the business has gone. The son readily agreed and the following discussion took place:

Dad: From this I can see that you have made a lot of money.
Son: Yes dad.
Dad: Do you still remember our agreement?
Son: Yes
Dad: What is it?
Son: We agreed that I should invest the money and buy the car from the profit.
Dad: Why have you not bought the car?
Son: I don't need the car again. I want to invest more.
Dad: Good. You have learnt the lessons that I wanted to teach you.
- You didn't really need the car, you just wanted to feel among. That would have placed extra financial obligations on you. It wasn't an asset then; but a liability.
- Two, it is very important for you to invest in your future before living like a king.
Son: Thanks dad.

Then the father gave him the keys of the latest model of that car.

MORALS:
1. Always invest first before you start living the way you want.

2. What you see as a need now may become a want if you can take a little time to get over your feelings.

3. Try to be able to distinguish between an asset and a liability so that what you see as an asset today will not become a liability to you tomorrow.
