DAA is the institute’s highest honour conferred upon distinguished alumni for their outstanding achievements and contributions in various fields. The awardees will be formally felicitated during the 22nd Convocation Ceremony on June 20, 2025.

Congratulations to Shri Madhusudan Padhi, an esteemed alumnus of NIT Rourkela, for being appointed as the State Election Commissioner of Odisha.

A B.Sc. engineering (1984) graduate in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and Distinguished Alumnus Award (2012) recipient of NIT Rourkela, Shri Padhi has made significant contributions throughout his illustrious career. As a 1991-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, he has served in various key roles in the Government of Odisha, including Commissioner-Cum-Secretary, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare and Principal Secretary, Govt. of Odisha.

: We are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Prof. Debendra Kumar Das (Professor Emeritus at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, USA) and NIT Rourkela, represented by Prof. Himanshu Bhushan Sahu, Dean (Alumni, Industry and International Relations). The agreement was signed on 29th January, 2025 in the presence of Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao (Director of NIT Rourkela).

Under this agreement, Prof. Debendra Kumar Das (Alumnus, 1972 Batch) has graciously pledged a financial corpus to establish the "Dr. Bishnu Prasad Das Gold Medal" in memory of his late brother which will be awarded to the Best Undergraduate Student All-rounder in the Civil Engineering Department at NIT Rourkela. This award will be presented each year at the Institute's convocation ceremony or any other suitable occasion decided by the Institute.
