At AMB - Internationale Ausstellung für Metallbearbeitung 2026 in Stuttgart, WOHLHAUPTER GmbH, backed by Allied Machine & Engineering, has pulled the wraps off AutoBore, an intelligent fine boring tool the company is calling the future of intelligent finish machining.

What sets AutoBore apart is its wireless communication with the CNC, which allows the tool to compensate for cutting edge wear automatically and without any manual intervention at the machine. For a shop floor, this means a bore diameter that stays consistent from the first component to the last, with far less scrap and far less downtime lost to manual resetting, all while the tool remains compatible with every major CNC control and material in use today.

The real shift AutoBore brings is in how it closes the loop on precision. The system works on a simple but powerful cycle: it machines the bore, a compatible measuring process checks the diameter and sends that reading straight back to the machine, and AutoBore then corrects for any deviation on its own. It is this machining, measuring and correcting loop that Wohlhaupter is positioning as a step toward autonomous process reliability, letting manufacturers run more productive, lower manpower operations with minimal rework.
