We declare with heartfelt sorrow that we lost our bright star, a brave soul, a very successful scientist Dr. Abhishek Swarnkar, at his very early age. It's an irreplaceable loss for each of us, who knows him and who doesn't. His journey throughout is an example of how hard one's life can be and how to cross the hurdle with smiling face. With extremely difficult health issues, he published multiple of his work in top most journals within very short period of time. His days were still left there to shine more and more. All his struggles, his dedications and contributions to science, his brilliance and his unbelievable success will always be there in our mind. Our deepest condolences to his near and dear ones, may his soul rest in peace.

Many congratulations to Sajid Saikia Ghosh and Angshuman Nag for publishing 's recent work based on visible and near infrared emission of double perovskite in Angewandte Chemie International Edition. An interesting application like non invasive food inspection using pcLED made out of it, has been demonstrated.

Many congratulation to Dr. Tariq Sheikh and all the co-authors for the recent publication based on enhancement of water stability and photoconductivity of one-dimensional hybrid lead bromide crystals, in The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letter.
The link is given below,
Combining π-Conjugation and Cation−π Interaction for Water-Stable and Photoconductive One-Dimensional Hybrid Lead Bromide Hybrid lead halide perovskites and their derivatives are important optoelectronic materials but suffer from water instability. Combining both the optoelectronics and the water stability of such systems is a major challenge in material design today. To address this issue, we employ the well-known π-...

Here the new year in our lab starts with the PhD work by Rayan Chakraborty , Pariksh*t Rajput and Angshuman Nag in collaboration with Gokul M. Anilkumar, Shabnum Maqbool, Ranjan Das, Atikur Rahman, Pankaj Mondal, published in JACS. The work introduces design principle, interesting photovoltaic and optical behavior of non-centrosymmetric semiconductors. Congratulations to all the authors.
Rational Design of Non-Centrosymmetric Hybrid Halide Perovskites Structural non-centrosymmetry in semiconducting organic–inorganic hybrid halide perovskites can introduce functionalities like anomalous photovoltaics and nonlinear optical properties. Here we introduce a design principle to prepare Pb- and Bi-based two- and one-dimensional hybrid perovskites with...

Here goes the recent publication from our group on 2D layered lead halide perovskites exploring different extent of doping and energy transfer phenomena based on different sites inside same crystals. Many congratulations to Taniya Dutta and all the co authors including Dr. Arindam Chowdhury's group.
Edge versus Interior Mn2+ Doping in 2D Layered Butylammonium Lead Bromide Perovskite Single Crystals Butylammonium lead bromide [(BA)2PbBr4] has an atomically thin two-dimensional (2D) quantum well structure. So if Mn2+ ions are doped into such crystals, then one would expect efficient energy transfer from the strongly confined excitons to the dopants. Perhaps, the energy transfer happens to yield....

Many congratulations to Dr. Tariq Sheikh, Shabnum Maqbool, Pariksh*t Rajput, Dr. Pankaj Mondal and Dr. Angshuman Nag for very recent publication in Chem comm. The work describes temperature controlled unusual optical behaviour of organic-inorganic hybrid halide chiral perovskite.

Effect of Chirality on the Optical Properties of Layered Hybrid Perovskite R- and S-α-Methylbenzylammonium Lead Iodide The introduction of chirality in layered hybrid perovskites breaks the symmetry of their inorganic sub-lattices. Consequently, they show intriguing linear and non-linear optical properties. Here we explore the effect of chirality on the excitonic photoluminescence of chiral (R- and S-α-MBA)2PbI4 (M...

Here goes the first publication on chirality from our group by Pariksh*t Rajput depicting chirality transfer from organic sublattice to inorganic one. Many congratulations to Pariksh*t, Ajay K Poonia, Suman Mukherjee, Tariq Sheikh, Megha Srivastava, K. V. Adarsh, Angshuman Nag, for Pariksh*t's first publication in Journal of Physical Chemistry C.

Chiral Methylbenzylammonium Bismuth Iodide with Zero-Dimensional Perovskite Derivative Structure Chiral hybrid metal halide perovskites provide hopes of combining chirality induced by the organic sublattice with optoelectronic properties arising from the inorganic sublattice. The field is still in its infancy, with material space mainly focused on two-dimensional hybrid lead halide perovskites....

Here goes an insightful review article by Karamjyoti Panigrahi and Angshuman Nag, published in Journal of Physical Chemistry C. This article highlights why phosphors struggle to become potential candidate in phosphor converted white light emitting diodes even though they have high photoluminescence quantum yield. Many congraulations to both of the authors. The link is as below:
Challenges and Strategies to Design Phosphors for Future White Light Emitting Diodes Phosphor-converted white-light-emitting diodes (pc-WLEDs) are a commercially successful product for energy-efficient illumination. A large number of reported phosphors exhibit high photoluminescence efficiency but struggle in pc-WLED applications. So what kind of phosphors are required to upgrade th...
