To encourage women home buyers, the Maharashtra government has offered a one percent concession in stamp duty if a property is transferred in the name of a woman.

The Maharashtra government, in its budget for 2021-22, presented on International Women’s Day, has proposed a one percent stamp duty cut on prevailing rates in case a house property is transferred, or a sale deed is registered in a woman’s name. Currently, the State’s prevailing stamp duty charge is three percent (3%), which is applicable till March 31, 2021.
