The Basilica of Bom Jesus stands as a timeless symbol of Goa’s rich cultural and spiritual legacy. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is one of India’s oldest churches and houses the sacred remains of St. Francis Xavier. Every year, thousands of pilgrims and visitors from around the world come to experience its architectural grandeur and spiritual significance.

During a recent visit to the Valpoi constituency,Vishwajit P RANE took a brief tea break that evolved into an insightful interaction with local residents. From young children sharing their perspectives to community members discussing development priorities and local issues, these conversations reinforced the importance of responsive leadership. Shri Rane assured residents that their concerns would be addressed promptly and expressed gratitude for their trust and encouragement.

Urban Development Minister Vishwajit P. Rane inaugurated the new Administrative Building of Ponda Municipal Council and laid the foundation stone for the Ponda Riverfront Development project near the Council. Under the SASCI 2023–24 scheme, these projects reflect the government’s commitment to strengthening urban infrastructure and promoting sustainable city development.

Former Chief Minister and current Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik passed away early Wednesday after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was rushed to a private hospital in Ponda but was declared dead around 1 a.m. Ravi Naik, 79, served Goa with dedication and played a key role in its political and agricultural development. His passing marks the end of an era in Goan politics.

Under the leadership of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Goa celebrated World Mental Health Day 2025 at South Goa District Hospital, Margao, organised by State Tele MANAS in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services. Themed “Access to Service: Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies,” the event emphasized Minister Rane’s commitment to ensuring mental health support reaches every Goan. Tele MANAS, a key initiative under his guidance, has already handled over 20,000 calls, strengthening mental health outreach across the state.

Vishwajit Rane spent the day interacting with the residents of Ward No. 8, Usgao Panchayat, along with the Sarpanch and Panch members. These meaningful conversations provided valuable insights into the progress being made under various government initiatives and the aspirations driving local development.

Highlighting the BJP-led Government’s focus on inclusive growth, Vishwajit Rane emphasized the importance of participatory governance and efficient service delivery. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that every citizen benefits from Goa’s development journey and that Usgao continues to evolve as a model of people-driven progress.

Under the guidance of Vishwajit Rane, Goa’s Health Minister, residents of Usgaon Ward No. 2 discussed ongoing development projects and future plans for the area. Rane emphasized the positive impact of government schemes under his leadership and highlighted the importance of community involvement. His efforts are focused on making Usgaon Viksit, a model of inclusive and people-focused development that benefits every citizen.

In 1842, Goa became home to India’s first medical school, setting the foundation for structured medical education in the country.

Under his leadership, Tele MANAS has become a lifeline handling 20,000+ counselling calls and expanding access to mental health support across Goa.
