Karthik’s mother visits us every couple of months, from Pondicherry with the family. She’ll mostly be pottering around the kitchen, trying out new things, and making suggestions and tweaks.

But when she has a free moment, she’ll pluck some bay leaves from the garden, and make a few of these delicate steamed rice cakes with jaggery filling ♥️

As within, so without. Sowing those seeds of right knowledge. Growing that forest. Reaching for the light and so so grateful to all of you that have been part of my journey. Wishing you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎈

Came home to Panjim, to say hi to my parents and saw this — ♥️ an anthurium from my mother’s garden on a crochet doily that most likely was handed down by my father’s mother 🎈so much beauty in the simple joys of life 🌺

I knew I met my teacher in when I attended my first class at Aum Yoga Studio, in Anjuna, a few months ago.

For the first time, I was able to commit to my practice daily without feeling obligated or that sense of compulsion. Anyone who goes to Aum Yoga Studio will tell you the joy and lightness they come away with, when they return from a class.

Last week, we dived deeper into our practice, in a beautiful retreat designed by in a forest space in Maharashtra. There was yoga, there was breath work, there was cleansing, sound healing and a dip in the river - there was a shedding of inhibitions, a sense of community and being held.

I asked the forest to pick a card for us, and I’m not surprised to receive a card of healing; grandmother medicine.

The journey of healing is a beautiful one, that unfolds as one goes deeper and deeper. It’s silent and powerful and strikes a hard blow by showing us our most vulnerable selves, our deepest fears.

The power of healing can most times be found on the other side of fear, which is so unsavory, as we navigate through our fears and illusions. But on the other side, the reward is sweet, tremendous and full of promise.

All is takes are those baby steps towards healing. Showing up on your yoga mat, doing that inversion, taking that swim you promised yourself, or that silent walk down the beach with a friend. You get to decide where you want to start and let it show you the way from there ♥️
