Today on World Environment Day, we want to share the importance of wearing cotton fabrics.

We all know that there are different types of fabric but nothing is as good as cotton especially when we talk about it on world environment, we choose to discuss about the Indigenous Variety Organic Cotton.
Most of us understand what Organic Cotton means, i.e the cotton is grown naturally without the use of insecticides or pesticides or any chemical.
Also an Organic Cotton maybe grown in any part of the world but the cotton which is grown organically in India is most suitable for the Indian consumption.
Gossypium Arboreum, Indigenious Variety Cotton is a Rainfed Cotton.
This tree grows without any chemical application, and have short staple fiber. This cotton is used for making fabrics.

Direct benefits of using such a Cotton fiber for clothing are :
- Comfortable wear
- Allows Sweat to pass ( because we live in an Peninsular area , where precipitation is maximum )
- Skin friendly as it is a natural fiber
- Easy maintenance
- Longevity of the fabric

Indirect benefits are :
- respect and fair treatment of the farmers
- conservation of natural resources
- no harmful chemicals used hence pollution is reduced
- rainfed cotton ( less pressure on ground water )
- perennial growth ( in few organic cotton )

there are many and different types of indigenous variety cotton in India and are grown in different weather cottons, hence they have different textures, color and quality.
Examples of some organic cotton grown in India are - Kala Cotton in Gujarat, Bengal Desi Cotton (grown mainly in Rajasthan) , Karunganni Cotton in Tamil Nadu , Jayadhar Cotton from Karnataka, etc.

We suggest everyone to at least try to wear Cotton Fabric at home. Also the use of desi Cotton ( indigenous variety ) helps in body temperature control and avoids skin issues.

do not just share a picture of a plant and wish the day, rather lets try do our bit to conserve our beautiful nature and protect it from harmful things.

Label Prerona is working with the spinners and weavers of Bengal dedicatedly.
Spinners - the hand spinning is done mostly by the women artisans, west Bengal,
Weavers - the hand weaving is done by men and the skilled artisans who are mostly above 50 years old. The weaving is done in Pit-loom, only in mud houses.
Natural dye - the colors are extracted from natural resources like flower - Tacoma , Wadelia etc. , locally sourced.
Ethos Quadrant - we work on indigenous variety cotton (short staple) 40 counts. And promote this Indian cotton (gossypium arboreum) which is hand spun , hand woven and naturally dyed.
Finest and Lightest handmade fabric - muslin , we also work on 100-400 counts Muslin and revival of 500 counts Muslin.
Jamdani design (extra weft) - designs on Weft like Jamdani is one of the most beautiful complimentary designs. These are not done by any tool like jacquard, rather is made by hand. The Jamdani designs are done as extra weft with different designs which is very time consuming but is very beautiful and compliments any cloth.
