I recently had the privilege of attending the International Conference on Probiotics & Functional Foods (ICPFF 2026), organized by the Microbiologists Society, India.

As a microbiology professional, this conference was truly a remarkable learning experience that expanded my understanding of probiotics, functional foods, precision nutrition, and sustainable bioproduct development.

🎯 Among all the insightful sessions, I was particularly inspired by:

🌟 “Probiotics for Mitigating Ulcerative Colitis: A Preclinical Investigation” by Dr. Kanthi Kiran Kondepudi, which highlighted the promising role of probiotics in gut health and inflammatory bowel diseases.

🌟 “From Agricultural Waste to Value-Added Functional Bioproducts” by Prof. (Dr.) D. K. Acharya, which demonstrated how scientific innovation can transform waste into sustainable health-promoting products.

👩‍🔬👨‍🔬 In addition to the keynote lectures, it was wonderful to witness the enthusiasm of faculty members, UG/PG students, and PhD scholars presenting their innovative research work.

💡 This conference reinforced an important message:

The future of healthcare and nutrition lies at the intersection of microbiology, probiotics, sustainable biotechnology, and functional foods.

I am sincerely grateful to the Microbiologists Society, India for organizing such an enriching scientific platform that promotes knowledge sharing, innovation, and collaboration.

Looking forward to participating in more conferences, workshops, and scientific discussions that contribute to advancing microbiological sciences and human health.

🧫 Learning Never Stops | Exploring the Global Threat of Candida auris 🧫

Recently, I had the opportunity to attend an insightful online webinar titled “Candida auris: A Global Threat Hiding in Plain Sight – Diagnostics, Resistance, and Clinical Fallout” hosted by Fisher Scientific and part of Thermo Fisher Scientific with 1.0 P.A.C.E.® contact hour.

The session was delivered by Dr. Nathan Ledeboer — Professor of Pathology & Chief, Division of Clinical Pathology, Department of Pathology, Medical College of Wisconsin, and Associate Chief Medical Officer for Laboratory Services at Froedtert Health.

As someone working in the field of Medical Mycology for the last 3 years, this webinar was especially close to my heart because Candida auris remains one of the most fascinating and alarming emerging fungal pathogens worldwide.

Key Learnings from the Webinar:

🔹 Why is everyone so concerned about Candida auris?

🔹 The growing clinical challenges associated with C. auris infections

🔹 Current screening and diagnostic approaches for Candida auris

🔹 Resistance mechanisms and approaches for Antifungal Susceptibility Testing (AST)

The session highlighted the urgent need for accurate diagnostics, robust infection control strategies, and continuous surveillance to combat the rise of multidrug-resistant fungal pathogens.
