The concept is simple: start with a square.

For this new primary school in Sofia, Simple Architecture developed the entire learning environment around the square classroom- a flexible, adaptable module that supports collaboration, creativity, and discovery.

Repeated throughout the building, these spaces are complemented by green courtyards, STEAM hubs, connected learning commons, and a dynamic mesh façade that carefully manages light and ventilation.

It is a thoughtful framework for learning- designed around the evolving needs of children.

Stop scrolling and imagine your primary school looked like this.

Designed around a network of flexible square classrooms, this innovative school in Sofia creates an environment where learning extends beyond four walls.

Open collaboration zones, a vibrant central forum, STEAM centers, and a tranquil green courtyard work together to support exploration, connection, and creativity.

Wrapped in a dynamic mesh façade that filters light and improves comfort, the building proves that great design can be both beautiful and purposeful.

Not just a library—a landmark shaped by mountains, forests, and community.

Inspired by the natural beauty of Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard, the Monica C. Gratton Library transforms reading into an experience. A sweeping curved roof, warm timber interiors, and light-filled spaces create a place where nature, culture, and community come together.

Proof that the most beautiful architecture doesn't stand apart from its surroundings—it grows from them.

POV: A forgotten village ruin becomes the heart of a community once again.

What was once an abandoned adobe home in the mountains of Henan is now a library where children read, play, explore, and create new memories.

Built directly within the remnants of the old village, Library in Ruins is a beautiful conversation between past and future. Curved concrete forms rise from ancient walls, rooftops become terraces and slides, and every window frames the surrounding landscape like a living storybook.

Proof that architecture can do more than build spaces- it can revive places, reconnect communities, and give old stories a new chapter.

❤️ Would you visit a library like this?

Schools have the power to shape far more than learning- they shape wellbeing, belonging, and human potential.

We were honoured to welcome Dr. Parul Minhas, Director of Research & Innovation, Education Design International, to PULSE 2024.

In her session, “Designing Schools Where ‘All is Well’,” Dr. Minhas shared how thoughtfully designed learning environments can support emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing, helping students feel connected, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Her insightful perspectives, warm interactions, and meaningful conversations left a lasting impact on the PULSE community.

At PULSE, we are privileged to learn from distinguished educators, researchers, architects, school leaders, and changemakers whose work is shaping the future of learning.

Thank you, Dr. Minhas, for inspiring us to think more deeply about the connection between space, wellbeing, and education.

POV: your childhood library looked like this…

A spiralling bookhouse hidden in the trees.
Reading steps wrapping around nature.
A slide waiting after school.
Sunlight dancing across every page.
Fresh breezes replacing air-conditioning.
And a quiet little reminder that learning can feel like wonder.

More than a library, this space turns curiosity into something you can climb, explore, pause in, and grow with.
