A meaningful discussion was recently held between CEC Coordinator, Prof. Soumitra Satapathi, and IRCTC Chairman and Managing Director, Sanjay Kumar Jain, to explore a strategic collaboration in Sustainable & Eco-Tourism and Hospitality Management.

The deliberations focused on jointly developing industry-oriented capacity-building, certification, and executive education programmes that will equip students, professionals, and entrepreneurs with future-ready skills for India's rapidly expanding tourism and hospitality ecosystem.

The proposed collaboration represents a significant step towards strengthening academia–railway partnerships and advancing the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through high-quality skilling, sustainable tourism practices, innovation, and employment generation. By integrating the academic excellence of IIT Roorkee with IRCTC's extensive industry expertise and nationwide reach, this initiative aims to create a new generation of skilled professionals capable of driving sustainable growth in the tourism and hospitality sector.

CEC, IIT Roorkee looks forward to working closely with IRCTC to design impactful programmes that contribute to Skill India, Viksit Bharat 2047, sustainable development, and a future-ready workforce for the nation.

Continuing Education Centre (CEC), IIT Roorkee, successfully organized a six month AICTE-QIP-PG Certificate Programme on “Internet of Things and Machine Learning” from January 2026 to June 2026.

The program was sponsored by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and coordinated by Prof. Rahul Thakur, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Roorkee.

During the course, participants dove deep into the world of smart technology—getting hands-on with everything from wireless communication (LoRa, 5G, and more) to advanced cloud connectivity.

The programme concluded with a valedictory ceremony and certificate distribution, celebrating the enthusiasm, dedication, and active participation of all attendees.

Continuing Education Centre (CEC), IIT Roorkee, in association with Scaler, successfully concluded the Campus Immersion Program for the Certificate Program in Advanced AI Engineering during June 27–28, 2026.

Over these two inspiring days, learners explored the latest advancements in AI through engaging masterclasses, interactive hands-on sessions, and insightful discussions led by the esteemed faculty of IIT Roorkee.

The programme concluded with a valedictory ceremony and certificate distribution, marking the successful completion of the programme and celebrating the commitment and achievements of all participants.

Discussions were focused on strengthening capacity building, youth skilling, and lifelong learning, while exploring opportunities for collaborative initiatives between the Continuing Education Centre, IIT Roorkee and the Ministry to develop future-ready training and certification programmes for India's youth.

Continuing Education Centre (CEC), IIT Roorkee, in collaboration with the GIS Academia Council of India (GACI), successfully organized a Five-Day Faculty Training Programme on "Evolving Geo-Informatics and Applications" from 22–26 June 2026.

The programme was coordinated by Prof. Alok Bhardwaj, bringing together academicians and professionals to explore the latest advancements in geospatial technologies and their real-world applications.

Throughout the five days, participants gained valuable insights through expert lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on sessions.

The programme concluded with a Valedictory Ceremony and Certificate Distribution, celebrating the enthusiasm, dedication, and active participation of all attendees.
