Head should not be placed in the north while sleeping. Rest of the directions are fine.bed should not face the door. These options are mainly due to the effect of electromagnetic waves that travel between North and South pole.

Interiors and furniture are an integral part of vaastu.wooden furniture as against wrought iron furniture is beneficial for home interiors.besides material, orientation of furniture matter a lot and can have an effect on the dwellers life.for example orientation of our desk while working, orientation of our beds where we sleep, can have effects on our minds.

Colors of zones in vaastu are crucial.zones according to orientation have different gods assigned.for example southwest zones God is Rahu whose colour is blue, hence a blue painted room in South west brings well being.

Courtyard architecture is common in our Indian forts, palaces as well as in vaastu, where we call it the brahmasthan or the central space in our houses.
This is also a feature in environment friendly houses. where courtyards are supposed to keep our houses cool. hence the use of cooling appliances such as our air conditioners is minimized.
