Built with a deep respect for nature, this residence brings together light, air, greenery, and openness within an urban setting. Layered terraces, recessed spaces, and planted edges soften the built form, allowing architecture and landscape to exist as one continuous experience rather than separate elements.
We first designed this house for Mr. Verma 15 years ago, it was a beautiful home, full of life and character. Coming back to it and redesigning it again has been a deeply emotional experience. It’s never easy to see something you once created change or disappear; there’s a certain attachment that stays. But at the same time, watching it take on a new life, with a fresh design, makes it all worthwhile. The transformation carries forward its story, just in a new form.
A residence shaped by art, where living spaces emerge from expression, rather than art being placed within them.
Nestled in the serene landscape of Bhimtal, this hill home by Design Consortium is gradually taking shape with a deep respect for nature, climate, and local character. Designed to blend with the contours of the land, the home embraces natural materials, open spaces, and timeless architectural elements. Every detail reflects a balance of comfort, craftsmanship, and connection to the surrounding hills, creating a retreat that feels rooted in its environment.

Where architecture breathes with nature. This residence is designed to respond to its tropical surroundings through deep overhangs, open verandahs, natural ventilation, shaded courtyards, and locally inspired materials. Every detail, from the handcrafted wooden columns to the layered sloping roofs, reflects a balance between climate, culture, and contemporary living. The home welcomes light, wind, and landscape into everyday life, creating spaces that feel warm, timeless, and connected to the environment.

At the heart of a spiritual retreat, this temple unfolds as a quiet journey inward. Anchored on a strong east–west axis, the plan brings together twin sanctums in a balanced, harmonious composition. A central courtyard with a water feature becomes the heart, offering pause, reflection, and calm. As devotees move through gradually rising levels, each step becomes part of a gentle, processional ascent toward the sacred. Rooted in geometry yet softened by landscape, the architecture blends stillness with movement, creating a space where ritual, nature, and introspection come together in a deeply grounded and contemplative experience.
