Apni Party Stages Protest in Srinagar, Accuses Omar Abdullah Government of Failing J&K Youth
Party Leaders Allege Unfulfilled Promises on Employment, Recruitment and Youth Welfare; Demand Immediate Action
Srinagar, Aug 1 (KNC): Leaders and workers of the Apni Party on Saturday staged a protest in Srinagar, accusing the Omar Abdullah-led Jammu and Kashmir government of failing to fulfill the promises made to the youth regarding employment, recruitment and welfare.
Carrying placards and raising slogans, the protesters alleged that the government had not delivered on its commitments to address unemployment and ensure timely recruitment to government posts. They said that thousands of educated youth across Jammu and Kashmir continue to face uncertainty due to delays in recruitment processes and the absence of adequate employment opportunities.
The protesting leaders claimed that the growing unemployment crisis has left many young people frustrated and disillusioned. They urged the government to immediately expedite the recruitment process, fill all vacant government posts, and introduce effective employment-generation initiatives to address the concerns of the youth.
The Apni Party leaders also stressed that the aspirations of the younger generation should not be ignored and called upon the government to honor the promises it made before assuming office.
The protest concluded with the party reiterating its demand for transparent and time-bound recruitment, better employment policies, and concrete measures to safeguard the future of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth. (KNC)...

Sunil Sharma Meets Bereaved Families of Kulgam Terror Attack Victims, Assures Full Support
Srinagar, 01 August 2026: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, today met the bereaved families of the victims of the Kulgam terror attack at PCR Kashmir and expressed his deepest condolences and solidarity with them.
Extending his support to the grieving families, Sharma said that their pain is the pain of the entire country and that he stands firmly with them in this hour of immense grief and sorrow. He assured the families that every possible assistance and support would be extended to them.
Sunil Sharma spoke with the Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vijay Sharma, and ensured that all necessary support would be provided to the families affected by this tragic incident. The bereaved families also spoke with the Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, who assured them of extending all possible help and support during this difficult time.
Condemning the cowardly act of terror, Sharma said that those responsible for this heinous crime will not be spared and will be brought to justice. He reiterated that such acts of violence against innocent people are unacceptable and that all efforts would be made to support the victims’ families during this difficult time.
The Leader of Opposition reaffirmed his commitment to standing with the affected families and extending every possible assistance to them.
