From Coimbatore to the Asian Games podium — Vithya Ramraj has given our city and the country a moment to celebrate. ❤️🇮🇳
At the 2026 Asian Games, she clocked 54.75 seconds in the women’s 400m hurdles, breaking the 42-year-old Indian national record previously held by P.T. Usha.
And she didn’t stop there.
🥇 Gold — Women’s 4×400m Relay
🥈 Silver — Mixed 4×400m Relay
🥉 Bronze — 400m Hurdles
The women’s relay team of , Kiran Pahal, Machettira Poovamma and Prachi clocked 3:29.69 to win India’s first athletics gold of the 2026 Asian Games.

kW tells you the size/capacity of the solar system.
Units tell you how much electricity it actually generates.
So the same 3 kW system can generate different units on different days depending on things like:

Sounds logical. But solar panels don’t work because of heat — they work because of sunlight.
In fact, when the panel temperature becomes too high, its efficiency can reduce slightly.
So the simple takeaway is:

Best Investment? 🤔 Maybe there’s one option we don’t usually think about. ☀️

Gold.
Mutual Funds.
When we think about putting money to work, these are usually the options that come to mind.
But what about rooftop solar?
Unlike a conventional financial investment, solar works differently:
☀️ It generates electricity
⚡ It reduces the power you need to buy from the grid
💰 And those electricity savings can continue for years
That’s why, for a household with the right electricity usage and roof conditions, solar deserves a place in the investment conversation too.
The numbers in this post are only a simple illustrative comparison:
Savings A/c → ≈2.5%
FD → ≈6–6.5%

Mutual Funds → ≈12%
Solar → ≈15–20% long-term savings potential
Solar savings are not the same as an investment return. Actual savings depend on system cost, electricity consumption, tariff, solar generation, system size, subsidy eligibility and other factors. Gold and mutual-fund returns also vary with market conditions.

Saturday evening: site survey.
Next day: 3 kW rooftop solar installed. ☀️

Thinking about installing rooftop solar but not sure how the subsidy process works?
Installing a solar system is more than just putting panels on your rooftop. From the initial application to receiving the applicable subsidies, there are a few important steps that need to happen along the way.
The process generally starts with your PM Surya Ghar application, followed by feasibility approval. Once approved, you can proceed with a TEDA-empanelled solar vendor for installation.
After installation, the system goes through inspection, meter installation and grid commissioning. Once the required verification is completed, the eligible central subsidy is processed through DBT.
For Tamil Nadu, the process then moves through the Tamil Nadu solar homes portal, where the required details are verified before the state subsidy is disbursed.
So the overall journey is:
Apply → Feasibility → Installation → Inspection → Central Subsidy → State Subsidy ☀️
Understanding these steps beforehand can make your rooftop solar journey much clearer and easier to plan.
