PCCI was established in the year 1981 and has on its rolls a cross section of the local business community and various trading and industrial associations. Pollachi is a picturesque little town located on the foothills of the westernGhats bordering Tamilnadu and Kerala. Its serene environment, excellent climate, innumerable dams, tea and coffee estates have been the envy of many. Predominantly, a town driven by agriculture, Pollachi has prospered in trading and manufacturing too. Pollachi boasts of one of the biggest sandies in South India. Pollachi Sandy is a trading hub for a variety of grains, pulses and cattle. Coconut is the major cash crop of the region. The area is home to more than a million and a half coconut trees. Coir, which is a by-product of coconut has paved way for innumerous industries engaged in the production of coir fiber, pith, ropes, value added coir products and rubberized coir mattresses.
