The results are in from the Optibus AI LAB Hackathon, and what a 24 hours it was.

This year, over 100 employees across 40 teams spent more than 24 hours building, testing, and presenting, with more than a few lab coats involved. Amos described the energy in the room as unlike anything we've seen before, and the quality of what was created this year backed that up.

Teams were judged on innovation, impact, and ex*****on by a jury of Optibus employees and investors. The winning builds support tenders, live dispatch, and programming workflows.

Here's how it landed:

Optibus Launches DRT Planning with Native GTFS Flex Support, Modernizing How Agencies Design and Publish Demand Response Service

Low-density areas, first-mile/last-mile gaps, and accessibility are some of the hardest problems in transit planning. Fixed routes can't serve everyone, and the communities that need public transport the most are often the ones left behind.

Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) is increasingly the answer. And with GTFS Flex now supported natively in Optibus, agencies can model, import, and export flexible services to the same standard they apply to fixed routes, making those services discoverable in the trip planning apps passengers already use every day.

On May 26th, Hod Brom and Weston Shippy will be demoing the solution, built to help agencies design integrated fixed and flexible networks within the same timeplan, all in one place.
