Okay, story time: fifteen years ago I went on Taglit, and extended my trip a couple months to study in mayanot yeshiva. On the way home I met in the airport, who was super kind to me: he gave me his album, signed it, and took this picture with me. The album “laughing underground” instantly became one of my favorites, and I’ve been listening ever since.
Last night, because is the greatest city in Israel, they put on a free Tomer Yosef show for everyone to enjoy. The performance was legitimately flawless. This is a guy who has done hundreds of shows, and who’s truly mastered the art of crowd work. Everyone was engaged at all times. Plus he performed with the best drummer in Israel , who I have adored for the last decade and then some. Only thing I need now is a HARDCHARLiE/Tomer Yosef collab and we’re set. This guy is legitimately a legend.
