Back open today, and just in is this lovely rare mid C.19th Scottish mauchlineware spice box, complete with all the original internal spice containers. Made of turned sycamore, the outer box has a decorative scalloped rim, with the lettering on all containers applied on by transfer. The scalloped rim shows a couple of minor chips, there has been a repair on the handle and one small portion of the side of the outer box. Otherwise wear as would be expected for a kitchen item, with a beautiful mellow colour and patina.

A beautiful pair of C.19th heavy brass ecclesiastical candlesticks, with nice detailing such as stylised cross on the base, and trefoil floral details on the knop. Both very solid, some warping to the top part on both, but it doesn’t detract too greatly from their presence. Just under 50cm high.

I immediately thought of a certain British comedian / actor when I saw this! But leaving that aside, it’s a good little characterful portrait, oil on board, late C.19th / early C.20th, unsigned.

A nice little group of vintage Irish Carrigaline pottery has gathered itself here, all with the wonderful classic blue stripe. Condition varies, though one jug, and the two mugs in very good order.

A fantastic mid C.20th steel and glass industrial medical cabinet, extremely solid ( and heavy ), in its original light cream / green powder coated paint with wear along edges as would be expected. Nice detailing such as polished steel hinges, handle and feet, and the original suppliers badge at the top for “ Fanin & Co. Ltd. Dublin “. A great piece for storing and displaying a collection, or a quirky kitchen cabinet! C.1950

A beautiful little oil on board depicting the Mater Dolorosa ( Our Lady of Sorrows ), rendered in a slightly naive manner, but in many respects more beautiful and touching than an academic portrait. The colours used have a lovely golden tone, and the light falling on the face and head have a particular power. Possibly French, mid C.19th, 9cm x 16cm.

A beautiful antique oak chip carved French butter press / stamp, a very decorative folk art piece of kitchen decoration.
