Not entirely our usual thing, but couldn’t pass this fantastic 1950s ( I think ) blanket featuring a pair of fierce American Indigenous warriors on horseback, set against a lively patterned tribal style surround. The reverse features similar colour stripes with a leopard style pattern, a real piece of mid century kitch! In good condition, no damage just a little vintage wear, dimensions 148 cm x 160 cm.

A pair of charming naive late C19th / early C20th oil on board paintings of bulldogs, both in domestic settings. The first shows the dog in a farmyard waiting by a large empty bowl, the second captioned ( a little mysteriously ) “ Mr Ross Kitchen with green ribbons “, shows a somewhat guilty looking dog in front of a stove with boiling kettle on it. I can only think perhaps he chewed up the precious green ribbons?! Both paintings are identical size and in original frames, suggesting they were painted by the same hand at roughly the same time. A few small losses to the frames, otherwise in good condition.

SOLD A wonderful antique bank of 25 pine Apothecary drawers, all with original handles and showing a fantastic patina, with layers of scuffed and worn paint. With a written date of 1871 on the reverse of a couple of drawers, this would have originally been set into a Victorian chemist’s shop to contain individual ingredients for mixtures. With a top surface added later in similarly worn green paint, this was discovered residing in on an Irish farm, and has recently added backboards.

A great looking piece for the kitchen, an original paper mounted and framed advertising piece for Johnson’s Pure Tea. This would probably have hung in a grocery, informing the customers that their favorite tea brand was available, in packets! Dating to the late C19th, c.1880 - 90, it has some staining and tears, but displays very well.

A substantial and heavy Victorian brass footman, used as a temporary step for carriages. The top surface has patterned grating, decorative legs terminating with nice ball and claw feet. This would make a nice decorative floor stand, very strong and solid!

A beautiful colourful original framed watercolour painting by the noted Scottish painter and illustrator Sterphen Reid ( 1873 - 1948 ), signed and dated 1907. The composition features a high status lady and gentleman in rich clothing, with a maid standing behind, the gentleman reading. The style of painting and dress reflects the influence of the Pre-Raphaelite movement, which often featured subjects in rich medieval style dress and settings. Stephen Reid illustrated many books during this period, and this painting was possibly connected with this work. It’s a beautiful and confident work with a rich romantic feel.

Two wonderful Napoleonic era framed hand coloured prints of Lieutenant General Sir Thomas Picton, the first particularly has a great naive charm in the pose of the subject.
Sir Thomas Picton ( 24 August 1758 – 18 June 1815 ) was a British Army officer and colonial administrator. He fought in the Napoleonic Wars and died at Waterloo. Picton was “respected for his courage and feared for his irascible temperament”. The Duke of Wellington called him “a rough foul-mouthed devil as ever lived”, but found him capable!

SOLD A rare edition of The Orchid Growers Manual, 6th edition published in 1885. It has a lovely illustrated cover ( loose from the spine ), has well over 400 pages of detailed information, and is full of numerous beautiful illustrations.

SOLD A sweet Antique C19th cast iron two seater bench, with nice old paint and original hexagonal patterned seat. At some point the two back legs have been replaced with a substantial bolted iron rest, which is super solid and has no effect on the stability of the piece.

An attractive C19th French girandole mirror, with two candleholders and small candle shelf. It has considerable wear, cracking and some losses to the gilt plaster, but retains a nice antique colour and charm. A romantic piece of decor!
