Tramore Rugby Football Club

🏉 A really positive development for sport in Tramore

It is fantastic to see Waterford City & County Council giving serious consideration to the future provision of sports and community facilities in Tramore. As part of the Council’s Proposed Variation No. 2, its Urban Design Concept identifies Ballycarnane as the preferred location for enhanced community infrastructure and includes an indicative layout showing two playing pitches, a multi-use games area (MUGA) and a Community Hub.

For a growing town like Tramore, this kind of long-term planning is hugely important. Housing, schools, community facilities and sporting infrastructure all need to develop together if we are to provide for future generations. These proposals are still draft and indicative, so nothing is guaranteed at this stage.

But it is extremely encouraging to see the need for proper sports facilities being recognised and specific land being identified as having the potential to provide them. From Tramore RFC’s point of view, we very much welcome the Council looking seriously at the sporting infrastructure needs of the town and hope that this work will lead to meaningful engagement with all local sports clubs, schools and community organisations about what Tramore needs for the future. 🏉⚽🏃‍♀️🏀

This could be a really significant and generational opportunity for sport and community life in Tramore and for the future health and welfare of our current and future community. Opportunities to submit to variation No.2 are open until the 5th October. Lets hope our entire community gets behind it. https://consult.waterfordcouncil.ie/en/consultation/proposed-draft-variation-no2-waterford-city-and-county-development-plan-2022-%E2%80%93-2028

🏉 TRAMORE RFC OPEN MONTH – STARTING 11 OCTOBER 🏉

A quick update for anyone planning to join us for our Open Month.

Our first session will now take place on Sunday, 11 October at 10.00am in Cannons Field.

We have a Mini Rugby blitz on Sunday, 4 October, which was confirmed after our leaflets had already gone out to local schools, so apologies for the change of plan.

If your child is new to rugby, don’t worry; Mini Rugby is all about participation, fun and giving every child the chance to get involved, whatever their experience or ability.

At Tramore RFC we want children to:
🏉 Have fun and enjoy rugby
🤝 Learn teamwork and respect
💙 Feel welcome and included
👫 Make friends and be part of the club

No previous rugby experience is needed. New players are always welcome.

🏉 Fancy winning a trip to the Rugby World Cup in Australia?

Tramore RFC is selling tickets for the Your Club Your Country Draw, with some brilliant prizes up for grabs, including the Australia trip, €3,000 cash and Six Nations VIP trips.

The best part for us is that all the money raised through our ticket sales stays with Tramore RFC.

We’re still the only rugby club in Munster without our own pitch, but last year we still managed to bring rugby to more than 1,250 local primary school children, directly funded from last year's draw.

If you’re buying a ticket, we’d really appreciate you buying it through Tramore RFC.

📱 Just scan the QR code on the image.

You might win a great prize and you’ll definitely be helping the club bring rugby to local schools
