FULL TIME | NEWBRIDGE 19–19 CARLOW

A fitting way to begin our 30th Anniversary season as Newbridge and Carlow played out an entertaining 19–19 draw in Rosetown last night.

The occasion had a nice sense of history. Following the amalgamation of The Curragh RFC and Old Kilcullen RFC in 1996, Carlow provided the opposition for Newbridge’s first-ever fixture. Thirty years later, it was great to welcome them back to Rosetown to help us mark the beginning of another season.

The club has come on leaps and bounds over those 30 years and, judging by last night’s performance, there is plenty to look forward to in the season ahead. We hope to host several events throughout the year to celebrate our 30th Anniversary and the people who have helped make the club what it is today.

Our tries on the night came from Tim Murphy, Nathan McDonald and Eoin Walsh.

It was also a memorable evening for Daniel Feighan, Scott O'Keefe, Jack Lalor, Joss Hulin and Tim Murphy, who all made their first-team debuts, while it was great to see Jack Barry and Eoin Walsh back in a Newbridge jersey.

A massive thank you to Carlow RFC for the fixture, and we wish them every success for the season ahead.

Next up is competitive action as we welcome Cill Dara RFC to Rosetown in the first round of the Hosie Cup on Saturday, 5th September at 6pm — a repeat of last season’s Hosie Cup Final.
