π» TAX TIPS FOR IRISH FREELANCERS
1οΈβ£ KEEP TRACK OF YOUR BUSINESS EXPENSES
Software, subscriptions, equipment, professional fees and other business costs may be allowable expenses, depending on your circumstances.
2οΈβ£ KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS π§Ύ
Donβt rely on your bank statement alone. Keep proper records and receipts for your business expenses.
3οΈβ£ SET MONEY ASIDE FOR TAX πΆ
Remember that your freelance income may create an Income Tax, USC and PRSI liability. Putting money aside throughout the year can help avoid an unexpected bill.
4οΈβ£ KEEP BUSINESS & PERSONAL SPENDING SEPARATE
A separate business bank account can make it much easier to keep track of your income and expenses.
5οΈβ£ KNOW YOUR DEADLINES π
Self-employed individuals generally need to file an annual Income Tax return and pay any tax due by the relevant deadline.

π‘ WHAT IS RCT?
If you work in construction, forestry or meat processing, you may have come across RCT.
ποΈ RCT stands for Relevant Contracts Tax.
It is a tax system that applies to certain payments made by principal contractors to subcontractors in these industries.
πΆ Instead of the subcontractor receiving the full payment, the principal contractor may have to deduct RCT and pay it directly to Revenue.
π The amount deducted depends on the subcontractorβs RCT rate.
β οΈ RCT can be confusing, particularly when it comes to registrations, deductions and filing obligations.
If you are a contractor or subcontractor and you are unsure how RCT applies to you, getting the right advice can help you avoid mistakes.
