Pigmentation, redness and rough texture? This is why BBL + MOXI work so well together ✨️

BBL is brilliant for unwanted skin colour, think pigmentation, sun damage, redness, visible vessels, and an uneven complexion. MOXI is more about resurfacing and refinement, helping with texture, pores, fine lines and that rougher, less polished look skin can develop over time.

Used together, you’re addressing both tone and texture in the same treatment plan, which is why the combination can make such a noticeable difference to overall skin quality.

Expect a few days when the skin may feel dry or slightly sandpapery as it renews, then clearer, smoother, and more even-looking skin as everything settles.

If sun damage, redness, pigmentation, and texture are on your list, this is one combination I’d consider.

Send us a message or book a consultation via the link in our bio, and we can talk through whether BBL + MOXI would suit your skin 💌

BBL, MOXI, and HALO are three names you’ll hear a lot at The Skin Lab, but you shouldn’t have to work out which one to book.

Someone might come in saying they want MOXI because they’ve seen the results online, but when we assess their skin, the biggest difference in how it looks could be redness and visible sun damage. Another patient might need more meaningful resurfacing than MOXI is intended to provide.

That’s why we don’t start with the device.

We start with your skin, what you want to improve, how much correction is needed and how much downtime you’re comfortable with. From there, we decide whether light-based treatment, fractional resurfacing or a combination makes the most sense.

Having multiple technologies available means we don’t have to make every concern fit the same machine. We can choose the technology around the patient instead.

If pigmentation, redness, sun damage or texture is bothering you and you’ve got no idea whether you need BBL, MOXI or HALO, book a consultation with The Skin Lab, and we’ll talk you through the right approach for you 🤍

Expensive skincare doesn’t automatically mean effective skincare.

One of the easiest ways to waste money is buying products because the label sounds impressive rather than looking at what the formulation can realistically do.

A “collagen cream” isn’t the same as stimulating meaningful new collagen within the skin. A £400 moisturiser may feel luxurious, but if your goal is to improve pigmentation, texture, or signs of ageing, I’d rather see that budget go toward well-formulated actives that actually target those concerns.

And for the neck, you usually don’t need an entirely separate routine. In most cases, you can extend the products you’re already using on your face down to the neck and chest, as long as your skin tolerates them.

The better question isn’t “How expensive is this product?” It’s “What job is it doing in my routine?”

If your skincare shelf is getting expensive but your skin still isn’t changing, book a consultation via the link in our bio, and we can simplify it properly 💌

New here? Consider this your introduction to The Skin Lab 👋

We’ve built The Skin Lab around one thing: getting people genuinely better results with their skin.

That means investing in some of the most advanced laser and skin technology available, but just as importantly, investing in the experience and training needed to use it well. Our team has spent years working with skin, and we’re constantly learning, updating, and looking for ways to treat different concerns more effectively.

We’re known for lasers and advanced skin treatments, but we’re not a clinic that believes more treatment is always better. We’re big on proper consultations, good homecare, realistic expectations and knowing when something needs a different approach or another specialist altogether.

You can expect us to be straightforward, too. We’ll tell you what we think is worth doing, what we don’t think you need and where we’d spend your money if it were our skin.

Most of all, we want The Skin Lab to be the place you come back to as your skin changes. Whether you’re dealing with rosacea, pigmentation, or sun damage; noticing the first changes in your skin as you get older; or simply want to look after it well for years to come.

If you’re new here, tell us in the comments what brought you to our page. We’d love to know what you want to see more of 🤍

Seasonal Skin Guide

September is a good time to check in on your skin after summer. If things are feeling a little different, this is the moment to reassess rather than guess.

Is my skin showing signs of summer?

Summer can leave skin looking dull, dehydrated, congested, uneven, or more pigmented. A seasonal skin check can help you understand what has changed and what your skin may need next.

Do I need to change my skincare routine?

Possibly, but not everything at once. As the weather changes, your skin may benefit from more hydration, barrier support, a review of active ingredients, and continued daily SPF

What treatments are best to ask about in September?

September is a great time to discuss maintenance treatments now and start planning autumn options. Depending on your skin, that may include Hydrafacial, SkinPen, MOXI, BBL, peels, or a consultation to map out what comes next.

Should I start planning corrective treatments now?

Yes. Autumn and winter are often better suited to more corrective treatment plans, especially when the focus is pigmentation, texture, or resurfacing. Planning early gives you time to prepare properly.

What should my skin focus be this month?

Think reset, repair, hydration, barrier support, and consistency. The goal is to strengthen your skin now so it is ready for whatever comes next.

A calming favourite for sensitive, redness-prone, or acne-prone skin.

SkinCeuticals Phyto Corrective Gel is a lightweight soothing gel formulated with hyaluronic acid, cucumber, thyme, and botanical extracts to help support hydration and comfort without feeling heavy on the skin.

It may be a good option when your skin is feeling:

• sensitive or reactive
• red or easily irritated
• dehydrated
• congested or acne-prone
• in need of a lightweight, non-comedogenic hydrator

It is also a lovely product to discuss as part of a post-treatment or barrier-support routine, depending on your skin and treatment plan.

Not sure if it suits your skin? Ask us during your next consultation or skincare appointment.

Meet Plinest Newest.

Plinest Newest is a polynucleotide-based injectable treatment that also contains hyaluronic acid and mannitol, making it a lovely option when the goal is to support hydration, radiance, and overall skin quality.

The polynucleotides focus on biorevitalisation and skin renewal, while hyaluronic acid helps attract moisture and adds a subtle plumping effect. Mannitol supports the treatment by helping maintain hydration around the skin.

Plinest Newest may be considered for skin that looks:

• dry or dehydrated
• crepey
• dull
• less elastic
• more visibly aged

The focus is on skin quality and rejuvenation, rather than reshaping facial features.

Book a consultation to find out whether Plinest Newest is suitable for your skin and goals.

Thinking about tattoo removal or fading?

At The Skin Lab, we use Cynosure PicoSure Pro, an advanced picosecond laser system designed to target unwanted tattoo pigment with ultra-short pulses of energy.

The laser creates a photoacoustic effect that breaks tattoo ink into much smaller particles, which are then gradually cleared by the body over time.

PicoSure Pro can be used across a range of tattoo colours, including black, blue, green, red, and yellow, and may also be considered for pigment that has not responded fully to previous laser treatments.

Tattoo removal is a process, and the number of sessions needed will depend on factors such as ink colour, depth, age of the tattoo, and how your skin responds.

Book a consultation to find out whether PicoSure Pro is suitable for your tattoo and treatment goals.
