The return of the rain wasn't enough to dampen spirits at this year's Castletownbere offshore rowing regatta. We had many experienced and novice rowers who took part in the regatta this year, with many great results along the course of the day.
In the j18 doubles category both mixed and womens events, we picked up two gold medals. Marissa and Noah put on a strong display to win the mixed category. While Breanna joined Marissa in the j18 women's double to equally storm home to a victory in the category!
In the masters category we had the women's quad of Yvonne, Anne, Aileen and Rose who rowed really well to claim bronze in their event coxed by Jane. While later in the day the mixed masters quad of Mary, Paddy, John and Jane put in a fine effort in their race to finish their race in style.
In the more junior side of things we had two j14 crews racing. In the j14 double we had Matthew and Jacob who battle very well with the conditions and gained some great race experience in their first race of the day. Later that day the boys had Kate from Passage West and Alex join them in the j14 quad. The crew put in a fine display in their race and really dug deep towards the end to take bronze place.
Well done to Castletownbere for organising a well ran regatta and to all the athletes and coaches who took part on the day!

What a powerful day by our rowers in Duisberg today.
First up Ayla🌷, Holly, Isabella and Sibéal took place in the BW4- B final. The girls put in a dominant display and took 1st place in the final. A fantastic race by a great crew.
The second race of the day saw Jonah and of St Michael's Rowing Club (SMRC) sit into the A final of the BM2X. The boys had us all on the edge of our seat for the majority of the race and perfectly timed their sprint finish to nip the bronze medal on the line. A brilliant achievement for the two young athletes.
Congratulations to all the crews who raced so well today. They have represented their countries and clubs with great pride and honour over the past few days.
Best of luck to Jonah and Holly Davis of Lee Valley RC who line up in the BMix2 final tomorrow morning 11.06am Irish time.
We would also like to wish Sophia Young of Methodist the best of luck in the A final of the BW1X tomorrow.

After two hard days of racing Jonah and of St Michael's Rowing Club (SMRC) have done a wonderful job in qualifying for the A final of the BM2X at the U23 World Rowing Championships. This is taking place tomorrow, Saturday morning at 10.14am Irish time.
Ayla🌷, Holly, Sibeal and Isabella have also put in two hard days of rowing and raced really well both days to qualify for the B final of the BW4- taking place at 8.25 am Irish time tomorrow.
The Lansdowne Kenmare have kindly offered to show both races tomorrow morning in the Poet's bar. We'd like to thank them for offering to show these races and would love it for as many people to show up and support our tremendous athletes.

Brianna and Marissa took part in the club 2 doubles and raced very well to make the b final.

Nicholas raced in the club 2 singles and raced powerfully to win the overall event.

It's been a busy few weeks for Kenmare Rowing and boating club!
First off was Fermoy Regatta last weekend in which we had numerous rowers competing for the first time along with some more seasoned campaigners. It was a fantastic day with all rowers getting some valuable race experience and a win for Noah and Nicholas in the double along with Nicholas taking 1st place in the j16s. Well done to all competitors.
Next was Ayla O'Neill's recent exploits across the water in America. She raced in the division 1 NCAA rowing championship held in Gainesville Georgia where she was racing in the Virgina 2nd varsity eight. They came 3rd in their boat class and then won 4th overall as a Team. Placing them as the 4th best program in the United States collegiate system. A great achievement by her and her squad.
Finally well done and thank to the volunteers who came down to the pier to tidy up the rowing grounds. There was much work to be done but as the saying goes "many hands make light work". Thanks and we'll done to all.

Another week another regatta, this week it was the turn of our youngest crop of rowers (and the odd master or two!) getting their first taste of racing competition down at the Bantry sprints. Well done to Ríona, Riley, Maeve, Emer, Alex, Conor, Jacob and Rory on their races yesterday. We fielded across the board from J13 to J18 and each rower put in their best effort on the day.
Riley and Kate representing Castletownbere powered home to take gold in their double and Alex and Conor put in a fine performance to take silver in their race.
A special mention must go to Jane and Patricia who took part in the masters double and sailed past the finish line with ease in their first event together on the flat water.
Well done to all our athletes who took part yesterday!
