Happy Founders Day β¨οΈ
Our Scout group of parents, leaders and scouts hiked to Lloyd to see the sunrise π
as part of our celebration of the lives of the founder of scouting, Robert Baden-Powell and his wife Olave. βοΈ
Robert had a belief that young people could change the world if they were given adventure, responsibility and a chance to lead.
We in Kells, Co.Meath are very proud of our Scout group, our leaders and the achievements of our youth members πππ

Yesterday, Rosie Kiernan, our former group leader in 5th Meath Kells Scouts received one of the highest honours in the country. Rosie has worked tirelessly on behalf of the young people of Kells and Gleann na Boinne scout county for over 16 years now. She has driven the success of our scout group with her vision and determination. It is so fitting that she receive this award from our new president in Dublin Castle. We are so proud of her.

π Kells Doesnβt Run Itself π
Every light at Christmas, every flower box in summer, every parade, every festival β they donβt just appear. They happen because of local committees, made up of volunteers who have been giving their time for years.
Think about it. Kells Christmas Lights, Kells Tidy Towns , Kells Local Heroes , St. Patrickβs Day Committee, Hinterland Festival Kells , Samhain Festival Kells, Kells TypeTrail , Kells By Candlelight , the GAA and sports clubs, Scouts, Kells-Family Resource-Centre, Kells Musical & Dramatic Society 1976 & MANY MANY more who just do what they do for the pride of their community β all run by ordinary people in our town.
And hereβs the truth. If those same people stop, all of this stops. No lights. No parades. No tidy town. No magic. Itβs not the council, itβs not βsomeone else,β itβs the people of the town.
These groups are always open to new members, and especially need younger people to step up. Because one day the people who have been carrying this for decades simply wonβt be able to anymore.
Wouldnβt it be a shame if the lights went dark, the festivals ended, or the parades stopped marching, all because we assumed βah sure, someone else will do itβ?
π Volunteer where you can. Help out when youβre able. Fundraise with them. Bring your ideas, your energy, your bit of time. Every hand makes the load lighter, and every effort keeps the magic alive in Kells.
If you love this town, be that someone. Join a group. Keep Kells alive. β€οΈ
