October is fast approaching. The leaves are changing, the nights are getting longer, and the temperature drops. A month where liminal spaces, haunting tragedies and death come to the fore. We are running a limited number of our Bully's Acre Cemetery tours throughout the month. Suitable for the spooky season.

Join us to learn how death, burial and mourning rituals played a central role in tensions between the local community and the Royal Hospital. Hear about the local characters, festivals and historical events remembered in the cemeteries here on the site.

Seven Dubliners who fought against Franco’s fascist army in the Spanish Civil War have been honoured with a memorial at Richmond Barracks, Inchicore, the community from which they all hailed.

Finglas man Noel McEvoy (63) was instrumental in securing funding for the sculpture, which was unveiled on Saturday.

His mother’s first cousin, Michael May, was part of the first contingent of Irishmen who volunteered to fight for the Spanish Republic
