NAME: Martin Fitzgerald
SPECIES: Common Skate
SIZE: 178cm Length / 130cm Width
REPORT: Enough head scratching and hours spent studying maps online finally paid off with an Irish shore-caught Common Skate, a feat not many anglers have successfully achieved. The fish had power like nothing I’ve ever felt, making several strong runs that put all the tackle under serious pressure for over 45 hard-fought minutes. After an unforgettable battle, the fish was tagged, measured and safely released.

📢 SPECIES HUNT ID CARDS UPDATE 📢

Species Hunt stickers and ID cards are currently being produced and should be available in the shop next week.

If you’d rather not wait, you’re welcome to print your own copy at home.

📱 We also recommend saving the ID card image to your phone, as you can use your phone screen as your official ID card when submitting catches.

Just make sure your entry number and name are clearly visible in all identification photos.

The Southside Angling Species Hunt is back and bigger than ever!

For the next 12 months, anglers from all over will be chasing as many different species as possible in a friendly competition that celebrates everything great about our sport.

REPORT: It was a very warm day out in Dundalk Bay. I was sitting there when the rod suddenly took off. After holding on tight and enjoying a great fight, I landed this impressive female Tope measuring 167cm. She was tagged and safely released to fight another day.

SPECIES: Redtail Catfish
SIZE: 30lb
REPORT: Caught in Brazil two weeks ago on minced meat. This impressive Redtail Catfish weighed in at 30lb and was the hardest fighting fish I have ever hooked.
