deAppendix are delighted to show Inventing Solutions, Carol O'Connor's body of work referencing nature, built environments and travel. Carol's process of layering paint and scraping away will often inform the narrative of the painting as she leans towards complete abstraction. By destroying the initial image and then returning some feature of it in an over and back, push and pull process Carol adds physicality to the practice of painting. The idea of representation or abstraction is not the end goal but the process itself.

Carol O’ Connor graduated from NCAD in 2009 with a BA Honours degree in Fine Art, specialising in painting.Carol has shown work in the RHA Annual exhibition and has had a number of Solo exhibitions. She has work in the Imago Mundi Benneton collection, OPW Collection, Contemporary Irish Arts Society, Beaulieu House Co. Louth, Meath Co. Council and Axa Insurance. She is represented by Chimera Gallery in Mullingar. She is also a member of The’ Flotsam’ Art Collective with Thomas Brezing, David Newton, Brian Hegarty and Gary Robinson.

Possibility @ De Appendix

15 Sept – 16 Oct 2015 | Opening 15 Sept @ 6: 30 – 8 pm

Coinciding with the opening of Possibility –
Artist Talk: Mags O' Dea in conversation with curator Lynda Phelan

Possibility does indeed feature in the elegant assemblage of auditory and sculptural forms on display at De Appendix, Blackrock, Co. Dublin. De Appendix is the suburban brainchild of GP / contemporary artist, Dr. Ciara McMahon, who has transformed the liminal spaces of her place of practice into a rotation of contemporary art exhibitions.

De Appendix is delighted to present the work of sculptor Mags O' Dea, a former orthopaedic nurse and a more recent graduate of NCAD, specialising in the art of glass (2013). O' Dea has since returned to NCAD for an MFA in Sculpture (2016). Possibility @ De Appendix is an exhibition of new work which extends the artist's hand beyond that of material fragility to form new relationships by way of material juxtapositions.
