9 th and 10th for Luke maccarron and senan Mc donnell in Zimbabwe. Not the biggest Race in the world but an interesting and. Challenging one nonetheless with some athletes under rated. Great location and great people..

Back in 1982 I rode a bike race in Bristol on A CRITERIUM CIRCUIT which had a camera motorbike following us. Now this is not Harder to do in 2026 of f**k it's really easy with little ghtweight cameras. How let's organisers away with no video coverage of events is beyond me. My nimal cost exposure and great benefits. IF I WOULD LIKKE TO SEE THE IRISH ATHLETES PARTICULARLY ON THE BIKE AND, N THE SWIM IM GUESSING THEIR COACHES WOULD BE EVEN MORE KEEN.
NOT YET UP TO PREVIEWS AND REVIEWS SO ILL KEEP MY THOUGHTS TO MYSELF, BUT HOPEFULLY AS WE MOVE THOUGH THE SEASON THERE WILL BE MORE.
Who; is racing for Ireland in the next couple of weeks on world triathlon calendar.....?

There are 3 really important points to get right when writing a selection or qualification criteria. Clarity and clarity of intention. Does the document say what it wants and does it mean what it says. Also how will it be interpreted. Because the document will almost certainly end up being assessed by a team of people in an appeal setting with legal representation. So here is an initial test . Ireland cross the line 1st in the Hamburg World Team Relay Championships. Ireland start the morning with 3 athletes in the top 160 in ranking. Do they get any qualification points, maximum points or are the points passed down to another team. Do we have to wait till may 2018 to find out? If we must wait a is there a process to keep teams updated on where they may be placed will other races take place. clarity and Interpretation.

Still struggling to get to grips with this. So the relay takes place. The logic says they gather all the info and on the last day they look at who is in the top 260 , allocate all the points and move on to games. But how are countries supposed to track if they have slots or not. Is the top 260 judged only on the final day or at every time stamp moment along the qualy pathway? I've tried to see clarity in the document but can only find line after line open to interpretation. I can see athletes driving jcbb size holes through it when it's added to a selection document.

Cycling has truly cracked the Can't see Can't be campaign. Orla Chennaoui presents the sport to us and the world from in front of the Cameras. There are five Irish riders competing in the world's biggest event. And when you see a bottle being handed up to a Team UAE ADQ rider or a spare bike it is an Irish Woman Susan O'Mara who is leading the teams logistics and making sure everything is where it is supposed to be when it is supposed to be for one of the biggest teams in Pro Cycling. If you are an Irish woman there is a place for you in cycling. You don't have to be an athlete. There are so many opportunities in the sport and I haven't even mentioned the coaching and nutrition professionals who I know are heavily involved with the riders.

Time for my favourite race of the year to be at and surely a contender for the greatest show in the sport, the Junior Men’s European Championships. The Junior Women’s race is always good but 70 teenage men racing for continental glory and World Championship slots is truly a sight to behold. Yes the Olympics and World Series have more talent on display but standing on the barriers for this event is a great experience.
The top 34 subject to 3 per nation gain a starting slot for their nation in the World Championships in Australia . It appears from the Irish selection criteria that the Worlds slot will go directly to the athlete finishing in that top 34. Mathys Bocquet and Senan McDonnell have been given the opportunity to compete for Ireland. There may have been a selection event but we did not see one advertised.
Hollie Elliott and James Edgar go in the Elite championships. No start for Erin McConnell in the individual race and social media posts showing Elizabeth Carr onsite likely means we will get to see her back racing in the Relay team. 20 teams go in the Mixed Relay in a race where Ireland were 13th last year with a team of McConnell, Edgar, Saoirse O’Brien and Russell White. Edgar was 4th in the individual race in 2024 but that was over a supersprint format. Can he recover from Hamburg and bring a big result again?
There will be a big Para team in Montreal. Chloe and Judith MacCoombe are both racing, unfortunately we still do not get guides names from the start list. Donnacha McCarthy and Sean Husband continue their Canadian tour following up a 3rd place last weekend. Also racing will be Tom Williamson fresh from his efforts in the Elite National Championships last weekend. Can the PTVI group close the swim gaps a little to put themselves in stronger positions heading out on the bikes and can Williamson continue to improve his run over the remainder of the season?
Luke McCarron races again in Canada following his 31st place finish last weekend. We know he can run well but just has to get himself there relatively fresh.
